This is the w this is the worst lawyer i have ever met in my life. he doesn't pay attention to your case and he even charges you for breathing. Do yourself a great favor and I promise you that you will be thankful for it, look for another lawyer that is worth it because this is the worst you can have. because apart from the fact that he excites you by saying that you can win, he only wants to be in court to charge you more. I ended up fired him because I never trusted it and after I fired him he sent me another bill for 5,000 dlrs for doing nothing and gave me a few days to pay him or he would sue me. Having him as my lawyer has been the worst mistake I've ever made.

Been the family lawyer from over 20 years. Never had a problem.

Retained Mr. Goots for a family issue. Mr. Goots was very professional and knowledgeable about the issue. He explained how things would go and what we needed to do before court. We fulfilled our list of things to do. The day of court, Mr. Goots was phenomenal. He cut the prosecution to ribbons with the circumstances of the case. He is now and always will be my family attorney now. If you have a need for an attorney, call Mr. Goots. You will not regret it!!

Don’t recommend Goots associates.

I've hired Joe on a few occasions. Was recently just checking the website to see if he dealt with matters that I could refer someone to which prompted Google to ask for a review 🤔. Regardless, my past experiences with this law firm have been excellent and I would recommend them and also hire them myself again if the need arose.

I would 10/10 recommend. John Goots was extremely proficient when dealing with my familys issue. From beginning to end he matched his ability and experience with his confidence. This guy knows his stuff, and my family will always turn to him should we find ourselves in need again.

Oh My I did not realize how many people has complaints about the same lawyer I retained Mr Goots for a Non Contested Courts case he charges me a total of $1,200 dollars He did attend my 1st court date only to learn that DDS had showed interest They only wanted to investigate allegations that my child’s Great-Aunt made against on his fathers side The 1st social worker was very young and was not experienced with a case such as mines Mr Goots explain to me that there would be more money due to him having to deal with DDS I actually understood that so he Charges me an additional $2,300 dollars only to tell me after I gave him that payment that my case is now considered as a contested custody case I said Mr Goots I have no worries that DDS will want to stay on my case o have been through this before they usually investigate if everything checks they close there case he still told me it’s it’s considered contested so I will need you to sign this paper before I can continue the paper was that he would charger me $350 and hour if DDS is trying to fight me which means it will be contested my DDS workers changed after I complained that the 1st one was just not experienced and kinda lost as to what she needs to be doing so I was given another DDS worker who was put on my case she was very much older & more experienced she investigated the accusations against me for a total of 60 days and decided that DDS was not needed on my case and she requested case to be closed & DDs to be removed on my next upcoming court date I was so happy and repeatly tried to contact Mr Goots he was either not there or always on a phone call my calls was never returned back I just wanted to let Mr Goots know that DDs will be off my case on our next court date and case will be transferred from Powhatan to my son’s jurisdiction which was my home he learned all of this information the day of court not from me not from the DDS worker the case was transferred I finally got to speak with Mr Goots after I also let him know that since there is no one that’s gonna contest to me not having custody what do we do now I much more worried about the $350 an hour and I explain to him that I am glad they are off the case because I did not know what I was gonna do if I really had to pay you $350 an hour especially during this pandemic we both laughed and he stated that the $3,3500 would take care of everything moving forward I asked did we need to put it in writing he stated no that’s not nessary then the communication stopped again And Mr Goots security sent me an invoice for more money I was so confused and she kept saying that I would have to speak with him I called three times a day no answer then he didn’t show up to my court date but the judge did not hear it case she ended up transferring my case to tchesterfield juvenile Mr Goots did not show up on my chesterfield court date neither I was granted custody of my son at my chesterfield court date

This is the worst lawyer that I could ever have retained he does not return phone calls he is hard to get in touch with I have left several messages with his secretary Cheryl Howard that Mr Goots never seems to get or knows anything about He also forgets things but the one thing they don’t forget is to ask for is payments Mr Goots needs to do better by his clients and communicate more he never gets anything done and he barely shows up in court 90% of the time so I was forced to call the office to once again Mr goots was not in or he was on a phone he never returned my phone calls so I was over it 😡 I told Ms Howard who I speak with 💯 of the time that I no longer need Mr Goots services months later he is taking me to court for payments of things that he says that he did by the Grace of god The case for debt was dismissed please if you have something serious going on do not contact this lawyer he does not take anything serious but a green dollar bill

RUN DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM THIS ATTORNEY before you potentially could make the single worst mistake of your life. Takes your money, will not do any research on your case, then will lie on stand without your permission. There are plenty of stories of him doing the same to other "clients" as he has a very bad reputation. A real immoral piece of work.

Most unresponsive do nothing lawyer ever. Was appointed as my court appointed lawyer. I was in jail for a misdemeanor failure to appear that carried a maximum penalty of ten days in jail. Court date was scheduled for 3 weeks after his appointment as my lawyer. He never called my fiance despite half a dozen messages left pleading for a call back. Mr Goot took it upon himself to request a continuance that I never asked for and was dead set against. New date was 4 weeks out. I repeatedly asked my fiance to contact Goots office to get a bond hearing. These requests were completely ignored. Finally the court date arrived after 7.5 weeks of incarceration. Mr. Goots never came to see me. I never even saw him until court and even then he never spoke a single syllable to me. He did have his secretary snail mail a generic letter 2 weeks after his appointment to my case in which it was stated he would schedule a visit as I was incarcerated. A hollow promise. He entered a no contest plea without consulting me. The judge asked for documentation that could have easily been at his fingertips had he spoken with me in advance or prepared at all. Goots ran out of the room still having never spoken to me. He called my fiance and gave inaccurate information as to the outcome of the hearing. I found out 6 hours after court that Goots couldn't get the necessary documentation and I was convicted in absentia and given 10 days which were all suspended. So I spent 53 days in jail for nothing and have to pay court costs which include his fees for legal services never rendered. Completely unprofessional attorney not worth the cost of the paper his business card is printed on. Well that's an assumption on my part as I never even saw one of his business cards.
