I hired Jeff to represent me in an appeal to Fredericksburg Circuit Court after being found guilty of DUI BAC >.20 in Fredericksburg General District Court. Jeff humiliated the "expert" witness and prosecution during cross examination; I was found Not Guilty.

I got charged with DWI 1st Offense and thought my life was ruined after that. I looked all over for lawyers but Jeff Martin stood out to me when I told him my story. He was the only lawyer that told me he would do everything he could to help me with my case (instead of just settling with charge as other lawyers said they would most likely do).
Mr. Martin worked tirelessly and with such care on my case and knew how I felt. I walked away with a reckless which lowered my charge tremendously. I never felt so happy and safe with someone and something so personal towards me. Thank you so much Mr. Martin, you have no idea how much you saved my life!

As a person that has been in sales for most of my life I understand the delicate relationship between product knowledge and the personal relationship you establish with your client and those around them.
Mr. Martin has an unparalleled knowledge of the DUI laws in a very stringent state of Virginia, has literally “written the book “about them and from my experience as a stellar reputation in and around that world.
Not only were his legal skills extremely valuable but his relationships And reputation carried a lot of weight. At least in my situation anyway. I am very grateful for his service, timeliness and abilities.

Jeff Martin may be a nice guy, but if you are charged with a DUI, you will need more than ‘nice’ for an effective defense strategy.
My experience leads me to believe his counsel was simply unprofessional. I hired Jeff Martin on December 7, 2017 and my experience transpired over eight months, which I will summarize below.
Mr. Martin exhibited exceptional enthusiasm to provide me counsel prior to receiving relevant evidence. Initially, Mr. Martin was very sympathetic to my situation and willing to learn about the details… that is, before he received payment to represent me. He provided tall tales of his influential relationships and success stories that were merely an anecdotal façade of irrelevant and unrealistic outcomes. Pointedly, once evidence arrived, Mr. Martin was unable to construct the defense for which I paid him. I wasn’t looking for a guarantee of a positive outcome, but I did deserve an intelligent and reasonable defense strategy. His best advice was to gameplay scenarios based on who the Judge assigned to my case may or may not be. Since those factors are beyond control, that should not have been a primary approach for defense!
Once present at my court appearance, I politely asked if he would submit a plea on my behalf, but he outright refused after allegedly inquiring before I arrived. Before the trial, I repeatedly inquired about the consequences of my potential conviction. Mr. Martin became frustrated answering this question multiple times and insinuated I might be mentally challenged, by comparing me to a client of his who required mental analysis as a result of her being physically assaulted. This was a completely unprofessional attitude for Counsel I was supposed to trust, and paid generously to represent my interests. After all, I am not an attorney and needed details with which I was unfamiliar.
Here’s the reason I am writing a review of my experience with Jeff Martin: His demeanor in representing me quickly changed after my initial conviction, at which time I received a phone call from Mr. Martin to remove a critical online review I had posted.
He spoke about appealing the case for my benefit. But in exchange, he required that I must promptly remove the online review and only then would his representation continue. We moved forward when I removed the review and we then “challenged” the ruling decision. Unfortunately, and ultimately, he did not provide any additional defense after he issued me guidance to appeal the initial decision. He never had a plan or direction for my defense and basically just held my hand as I was sentenced. Being ‘nice’ and having supposed influential relationship are NOT a reasonable substitution for adequate and effective representation. Personally, I do not trust Mr. Martin’s ability to provide counsel.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone hire Jeff Martin of Tillotson and Martin.

Mr. Martin,
I am thankful to have had you represent me during this time. You were professional, realistic, and honorable. From the minute you took the case, you were honest about what to expect during the ordeal. Things did not look great leading up to the court date, but you seized an opportunity and successfully defended me. The case was thrown out thanks to your diligence. Thank you so much for all you have done for myself and my family.

I was charged for an accident and later charged with a DUI. I was represented by Michael Tillotson and Jeff Martin. They were there every step of the way and always had time for my case and my concerns. I would recommend them to anyone you wanted a good and honest attorney. They never left me feeling alone or judged me. This made a difficult time bearable. My thanks and heartfelt appreciation to this team

I was charged with a DUI and I blew a 0.08. I thought life was over. Attorney Martin was there for me throughout the entire ordeal. He advised me that the case would not be as easy as I had thought, but prepared me for the possible outcomes. The prosecutor denied a plea bargain, so attorney Martin decided we should go to trial! The outcome of the trial was a better result than the plea bargain. I got to keep my license and I did not have to attend ASAP. I would recommend Attorney Martin to anyone who has been charged with a DUI!

We're interviewing attorneys for our daughter, who's recuperating from a one-car accident. Mr. Martin was very thorough, explaining the legal process from hiring to the case itself. Also impressed with his science background and how important it is to working his cases. Still interviewing, but Mr. Martin's at the top of the list.

When you are charged and/or convicted of a DUI it can make you feel lower than dirt. All sorts of emotions like shame, regret, anger at yourself, depression and fear.
When I put out an online search for an attorney Jeff Martin of Tillotson & Martin was one of the first to reach out with advice and support. He is very caring, understanding and truly wants to help people.
The best thing to ease you mind during this difficult time is to get all the information and facts about VA DUI laws. Jeff Martin is the number one expert.

I hired Mr. Martin to represent me for a DUI charge. This was my first experience with the justice system and I could not imagine getting through it without his expertise. Mr. Martin spent hours answering my questions, walking me through the process, and ultimately got the charge dropped to reckless driving. In addition to his mastery of DUI law, Mr. Martin is a genuinely kind and thoughtful man. His staff are also wonderful and incredibly helpful people. I strongly recommend hiring Mr. Martin if you are charged with a DUI. You will not regret it.
