Mr. McGrath was patient and detailed in explaining what the charge was. He advised me on what to do to mitigate the seriousness of the case before the court date. I did not have to speak in court because Mr. McGrath handled that brilliantly. The judge reduced the charge from reckless driving, a class one misdemeanor to improper driving a traffic infraction which is not a criminal offense.

I had a case where totaled my car in a accident with another friend. The cop gave me a ticket for a DUI. I was sent to the hospital as well due to the severity of the crash. I was 100% sure I was going to receive a DUI ticket and a reckless driving charge. I also did not show up to on of the hearings. I had a warrant for my arrest. I called Joe Mcgrath literally 6 days before the trial. We went into trial for almost 2hours. In the end I received a dismissed DUI charge and only had to pay a fine for my warrant. This man is no joke! Watching him work and represent me for my trial was amazing! I highly recommend hiring him for your driving cases! Mr McGrath was excellent in keeping me informed step by step of my upcoming case eventhough due to COVID it was push back close to 2 years! Mr. McGrath reviewed the police video throughly bringing up key points that the officer was in the wrong. While in court he also picked up on key statements the officer testified under oath that did not happened. He used all resources (toxicologists) to come testifying on my behalf proving that my blood alchohol wasn't accurate from the time of my arrests location to then being at the jail. Mr McGrath insisted we take this case in front a jury and after a long day in court it was worth it because the jury unanimously voted that the defendant (me) was Not Guilty! After 2 years I can move from that dark cloud that was over me and it was all because of Mr McGrath, he's straight forward, professional, great priced, well known, and just a good person. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM HANDS DOWN!

A run in with R.P.D. left me with an “obstruction of justice & reckless driving charge”. Mr. McGrath took my case for a reasonable fee, he instructed me on what steps to take for my defense & kept me abreast of the status of the case, including a bad offer made by the prosecutor. The obstruction case was dismissed & the reckless driving reduced to “improper driving” with the option of taking driving school to clear my record. Joe is a terrific lawyer in his specialty. He knows the VA laws inside and out and will devise a customized plan of attack for your defense. Joe tells it to you straight—he is forthright about your chances for possible plea deals that the prosecution would accept. In my specific instance, I blew 0.13 in the field and 0.11 at the station, but my field sobriety tests were fine and the arresting officer had unknowingly obscured all of the video footage. Nevertheless, Joe was very direct about the uphill battle I was facing, and we pursued various lines of attack in the weeks before the court date, including plans if we needed to appeal. When the case was tried, Joe pushed hard on all the weaknesses of the arrest and ran laps around the more-junior prosecuting attorney. Fearful of losing the case outright, the prosecutor agreed to a wet reckless with various provisions but no interlock, which was something that was crucial for me to avoid. At my first ASAP meeting, the case manager seemed floored that I was able to get a reckless with a 0.11. For the expertise Joe provided during my nine month journey, I found his fees very reasonable.
