Attorney Pooja was very helpful since the time she took up this matter until the final resolutions. She did what the previous lawyer couldn't do. Pooja was very informative and communicated with us on every step of the way.

It was only through Pooja's strong understanding of the EB1a requirements that I was able to successfully get my petition approved under this category in the 1st attempt itself -without any RFEs. Mine was a rather unusual case, as unlike most EB1a applicants, I don't have a PhD or work in the STEM field (I'm an International Development specialist). But Pooja helped me put together a winning case by providing comprehensive guidance, advice, and feedback on each and every aspect of my application. I thoroughly recommend her immigration services.

During my GC application couple of years ago, I took the attorney services of Pooja's mother Nimmo Bhagat who is also an attorney! It was a breeze and she advised me perfectly (her knowledge and grasp of immigration law is immense) and I got my GC in 3 months! Recently it was time for me to file my removal of conditions and since Nimmo had gone on to become a judge, I decided to take the services of Pooja. Needless to say, she has the same efficiency as Nimmo, particular about details and the best thing, very approachable and helpful unlike other attorneys with whom it is so tough to even get time to talk on the phone inspite of hiring them! I would strongly and sincerely recommend Pooja Bhagat's services!

I received a speeding ticket on fairfax county parkway. I hired Mr. Escobar based on great reviews from prior clients. The entire process was hands off. Mr. Escobar was very responsive and kept me in the loop throughout. He handled everything in a manner that inspired great confidence and great peace of mind. I felt extremely comfortable dealing with him, and very happy with the outcome of the trial! - it was the best possible outcome!!!! My speeding ticket was dismissed:) I would heartily recommend him to anyone! Very professional A+ Thank you so much!!!

I got into a little fender bender on the commute to work and the officer that showed up at the scene was more than happy to issue me a ticket. Alan Escobar proved to be the right man for the job. After an initial fairly priced consultation, Alan agreed to represent me. I provided him with all the information he requested and he took the reins and did all the work. It was definitely reassuring that I could trust my case would be handled correctly by a person as professional, sharp, efficient, and welcoming as Alan Escobar. The outcome of my case was better than I expected and when Alan and his associates showed up at the courtroom, I knew everything would be okay. I hope to never need a lawyer again in the future but if I do, Alan is the first person I'd call.

My first impression of Mr. Escobar was a very positive one. In the past I have gone to lawyers who have been very judgmental and condescending, ultimately making me feel uncomfortable. In comparison, as soon as I met Mr. Escobar he made every effort to make me feel reassured that he would do everything in his power to help me with my case. That alone made me feel like I was in good hands. His preparation for my defense was swift and thorough; after collecting specific information from me he organized my defense with a quick turnaround time. When judgement day came, Mr. Escobar handled all of the court proceedings and ultimately was able to achieve getting the best possible option for me. I highly valued his transparency and availability throughout the entire process by always taking the time to explain my options and give me advice. It was a pleasure working with Mr. Escobar, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a lawyer specializing in Criminal Defense, Immigration, or Car-related incidents.

We were looking to aquire an attorney for a probation violation. Mr morgan has a lot of experience in this area! He's very easy to contact; he answers any concerns very promptly. It was never hard to get in touch with him. His prices are reasonable! We ended up keeping the court appointed lawyer to save money, but we sure do wish we could have had Mr morgan. He CARES SO MUCH about his clients and went out of his way several times to help us even though we did not aquire him. He's a great individual, and he has a lot of experience. I would definitely recommend him

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Springfield, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
