I hired Debbie, after working with another attorney for over a year, to resolve my contested & complicated divorce from a retired Navy Seal. She was immediately able to show that she had an expert understanding of military divorce, and was able to put together a strategy. Debbie, and her entire team, are extremely detail-oriented, professional, ethical, moral, always well-prepared, and clearly an expert in Virginia family law. When I found myself in the middle of a highly contested military divorce I asked friends and family who they would recommend, and five different people recommended Debra. She has been representing me since 2018. She has helped me through all aspects of my divorce, and new issues that arise regarding custody, visitation, child support, etc. Divorce is such a painful process, and I am so grateful I chose Debra Albiston to see me through! There are lawyers and there are LAWYERS. I worked with 5 others before going to Debbie. She achieved results that none of the others were able to get. I was advised before going to her by a retired family court judge that she is the best attorney in Hampton Roads to argue case law...which I'm pretty sure is the part of her job that she likes the best. But her "soft skills" have mattered so much both in and out of court and are partly responsible for the favorable results she has delivered. My ongoing case is "beyond complicated" and she specifically earned my respect when she recommended I do something very different than the other lawyers who came before her did. But she saw 5 moves ahead where no previous lawyer did, and her legal strategy was a winner before the case ever got to trial. Her client list is filled with people who know better. When I think about the other complicated cases she is simultaneously working on - it impresses me so much how well prepared she is before we go into court on my case details. Her memory is so strong for case details, I feel like she knows more of my case details than I do. I was an English Writing Major in College and I am a stickler for word choice/diction. When I listen to Debbie in the hearings, I notice how she uses just the right tone of voice and language to the effect that everyone in the courtroom is able to visualize and empathize every word she says. Its just another of her skills.

Debbie Albiston was my lawyer for my child custody case in which I won custody of my son. Debbie is a master at her craft and the best lawyer/adviser I could have asked for. Her knowledge, as well as her courtroom presence, is second to none. A friend was surprised Mrs. Albiston was my lawyer because "she only represents women". This could not be further from the truth. Debra Albiston was terrific from the first time we met when I was seeking advice on divorce. She had been recommended to me by a good friend. She listened to everything I said, asked very good questions so that she could really understand my circumstances. She was not afraid to pursue any route that I wanted for my separation and subsequent divorce. She got back to me quickly throughout the 2 years that I used her services, whether it was by phone or email. She was very personable, very professional and I knew that if my case needed to go to the courtroom, that I would come out ahead. Luckily, everything was settled out of court, but I knew she was do more that support me in front of a judge.
