Knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled attorneys
“The level of knowledge, experience and personalism was outstanding. The whole staff at Invictus was extremely helpful and I cannot say enough about my attorney, Ms Hankins.”
3
Personalized attention and care for clients
“Eric Leckie and his team at Invictus Law are the pinnacle of professionalism. Every interaction with him and his staff throughout the legal process was handled with incredible confidence and skill that took the anxiety out of a serious situation.”
4
Responsive and communicative team
“The entire team who worked with me were professional, patient and answered every question I had. They made the entire process pretty simple.”
5
Military-friendly and veteran-led
“I am a retired trauma social worker (26 years), and throughout my career, I have worked with many judges, attorneys, and detectives. The professionalism, commitment, and due diligence displayed by Ms. Jenkins and her staff is bar none!”
Cons
1
Lack of communication and attention to client
“Highly doubt that the positive reviews aren't written by the team! Trying to get ahold of Mr Leckie was more stressful than dealing with my actual case. Always failing to follow his own plan, it was obvious when I'd meet up with him that he wasn't putting any effort into my case (his work was either not done or delayed).”
2
Unprofessional and dismissive staff
“Went to this place with my fiancee. While waiting in the office, staff never addressed me or spoke. Another client came in and they are greeted and offered bottles of water. Let a very poor taste in my mouth”

When it comes to finding the right legal help, Mr. Fellers is the real deal—a fantastic lawyer and a wizard-like magician all rolled into one! He was super helpful with my case, getting me back on track after property damage. Trust me, picking Mr. Fellers is a no-brainer! Plus, he offers excellent value for money and is totally trustworthy.

If you need a lawyer that’s not scared to fight for you CALL BRANDON FELLERS! He is absolutely amazing and I cannot thank him enough. He came up with several scenarios from best to worse case so I was mentally prepared. I was beyond nervous and he gave me the confidence that everything will be ok! After reviewing all videos and paperwork He ended up getting all my charges dropped! Again if you need any type of legal help CALL HIM! Thank you again Brandon!

Seek a better attorney & law firm . Everyone always too busy to take your call or even be on time with phone meetings they schedule. Not helpful at all most likely won’t get you off unless you do the work yourself. I’ve had better attorneys as public defenders. I wouldn’t recommend this law firm to anyone personally.

This law firm here is dedicated and honest. They have been with me from the beginning for my older brother. Thank you so much for being so caring, kind, and understanding and working with us for a payment plan. Thank you for representing my older brother. Brandon and Ms Pam and the entire law firm did their best in this trial case in Portsmouth. Thank you for fighting for what was right and thank you for exposing the wrongdoing. Thank you for getting Justice for my older brother. This was the best gift for my elderly parents. Thank you so much! I will definitely recommend Brandon as your criminal lawyer. This was an outstanding combination of teamwork, dedication, and outstanding service. From expert forensic experts to court reporters to explaining everything in FULL detail. Thank you God for allowing Brandon and his expertise in this courtroom and this was a heartbreaking horrible experience. Thank you so much! This was the BEST decision and case outcome on today. His children need him the MOST. Brandon, you did EXCELLENT from beginning to end. I recommend this law firm 1,000 times. This was walked thru, detailed, he was in contact with me and my family, I hope I did well on the stand, but he did 100% of this footwork. He exposed the TRUTH from the Darkness. He went against the COMMONWEALTH wholeheartedly. Expertise on criminal law, you will not be disappointed. Brandon is well worth retaining as your lawyer. I went to researching and God told me to choose this law firm. This was the BEST outcome from the judge. Brandon fought thru their lies and exposed every single one of them down to the police officers time stamps and collection of statements. This was well worth my money!!! Thank you so much for representing my older brother Jamar. Thank you !!!!! He deserves 10 stars. I am glad I retained Brandon. Hours and hours of talking to lawyers and thank goodness, I found the right one. I am very grateful!! Because this put my elderly moms heart at EASE! Brandon deserves top tier awards for self defense lawyer. One of the BEST lawyers in Virginia Beach!! Ten gold ⭐️ !!!

Mr. McCracken is the best all around lawyer that I have encountered in my 20 years in the Army and 20 years in the commercial arena. He is a lawyer who actually cares about his clients and their best interest. He is extremely professional, has extensive knowledge of the law, an excellent understanding of human nature, and an exceptional drive to accomplish the desired outcome. He is a lawyer that gets the job done.

Often times we cringe at the thought of having to hire an attorney. Greg was a breath of fresh air to deal with. He was compassionate but very professional. I would very much recommend Greg as attorney worth hiring if you need legal consultation or representation. I would hire him again if I ever needed assistance in the Virginia Beach VA area again.

Greg simply does everything he says he's going to do and then does it extremely well. If he says he's going to take care of it, it's taken care of.

Ms. Blessing was recommended by a friend. Upon speaking with her and a mediator, our divorce was settled with both parties happy, and processed within two weeks. She took extreme care to ensure that it did not become contentious, and was very thorough in her explanations of the processes. We walked away from it with minimal fallout and mostly amicable. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that needs an amazing attorney.

I enjoyed working with Kelly for my divorce, and I can't say enough good things. She knows her stuff inside and out, but what really stood out was her kindness and support throughout the whole process. Kelly took the time to understand my situation, gave me great advice, and ensured I felt heard every step. If you're looking for a divorce attorney who's not only top-notch but also genuinely caring, look no further than Kelly Blessing. Highly recommend!

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Virginia Beach, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
