I applied for disability in 2022 on my own and was denied. I immediately called the law firm after a friend referred me. My pain, illness & other issues made it extremely difficult for me to focus. Monica Outten and Brian Gillette were very patient with my questions, concerns, confusion and anxiety going through this difficult process and then a second denial. I honestly feel if I had not had them fighting for me I'd still be fighting alone, or worse. They even reached back out to answer more of my questions after they won my case. I HIGHLY recommend them! In September 2023, I realized I could no longer endure the work force due to the pain I suffered from my chronic back condition(s). I applied for disability on my own and was denied in February of the following year. A close friend referred me to Gillette Law Group. They agreed to take my case and filed my appeal the same month. My Lead Case Manager Monica was awesome. She held my hand through the entire appeal process, addressing all my disability concerns in a very timely manner. I was approved 7 months later. when I was told I no longer could work it was devastating to me and now here comes the headache apply for SSD. We'll let me tell you I was wrong, when I called Brian at Gillette Law and spoke to Monica, she was a blessing I gave her everything she needed and after a year I was approved. The woman I spoke to told me that my debilitating condition is just a “blanket diagnosis that doctors throw at you.” I’m still shocked that a person who’s supposed to advocate for disabled people completely invalidated every debilitating chronic illness I have in less than 20 minutes. She said I’d be better off with a part time job scanning movie tickets or being a greeter at Walmart… Some days I can’t even get out of bed. She said “being tired isn’t the same as being disabled”… Anyone with chronic fatigue knows how disabling it can be. I feel like she instantly judged and dismissed me because I’m young. Overall a thoroughly disappointing and infuriating misuse of my time.
