Matt and the QLG team did an excellent job handling my matter and obtained an excellent result. Matt knows his area well, has plenty of experience, was very responsive, and approached issues very practically. Matt and everyone at QLG was great to work with and I would highly recommend him to my family and friends if they ever had a need for such service/support. Five stars is not enough. Please note that this review is general information based on my personal experience as a client and is not legal advice or a professional referral.

Mr. Quick was kind enough to spend ten minutes to advise me on a legal matter I had regarding a collision and insurance problem that did not ultimately require legal assistance but did need some brief guidance. He was clear that hiring an attorney would not be of value at this point but was generous with good advice on what my next steps would best be. So glad I contacted him and if I ever do need an attorney in his field of practice I would contact him instantly for his intelligence, expertise, and basic generosity.

I contacted Matt Quick after my first lawyer failed several times to respond to my inquiries. From the first day we spoke, until the case was completed, Mr. Quick was responsive, sympathetic and extremely professional. In addition to keeping me well informed, he explained all of the legal and medical issues in plain English. I also know for a fact he spent many hours dealing with insurance representatives who were "less than cooperative." I am in my sixties and have dealt with the many members of the legal profession throughout my adult life. I can say without question that Matt Quick is one wonderful lawyer! Should the need arise, you will be smart to read about the others, and then hire Matt Quick!

I actually met with Matt for a brief and free consult to review filing for bankruptcy. I was a single mom of two going through a rough time and Matt gave me some great information, and in fact, advised that I not file for bankruptcy. I trusted him right off the bat. In the course of our discussion, I mentioned having been involved in a recent car accident. Matt asked a few pointed questions regarding the accident and, long story short, I decided to hire Quick Law Group to help with that situation. Matt always spoke from a place of genuine concern and the information he divulged during our consult was so incredibly constructive that for the first time since my accident (which had been going on with the insurance company for over a year), I saw a glimmer of light. Matt was patient throughout my many more months of various medical appointments, treatments, therapies, all of which were looking to reveal the cause of my pain. He checked in on me regularly to see if any treatments were successful and when I said no, feeling hopeless and exasperated, he encouraged me to keep at it, and that eventually, I would find someone who knew the answer. Finally, I was referred to a doctor who diagnosed my condition and that diagnosis was the answer I had been searching for. I had been in crippling pain for over two years. The diagnosis meant I would need an in-patient and invasive surgery, followed by 3 months of intense physical therapy. It also meant I could potentially feel a whole lot better. Well wouldn't you know it, my condition improved. The surgery saved my life, without question, and Matt's expertise in all areas of personal injury played a major role in that. There are days where I still feel pain, though stretching and PT exercise help keep it at bay. I would say I went from feeling as low as I could possibly feel (10%) to 75% better. Some days it feels like 90%! A solid character of a human being, Matt worked long and hard to get me every penny I deserved through the pain I suffered through. I could not be more grateful for his services, nor recommend him highly enough.

I was recently in a motorcycle wreck involving another vehilce. I tried my best to handle matters on my own and cordially at that. I contacted Matt the day after my accident, he gave me advice over the phone on handling my first approach and with no strings attached. After 2 weeks of getting the run around dealing with the other persons insurance and no results I decided to call Matt again and set a time to meet. The conversation went well and I decided to go with quick law group. Not only had Matt helped me prior to picking him to represent me, he also had almost instant results. I got a phone call within 24hrs and they were finally going to provide me with a rental car, also I had my check for my vehicle within another week. He handled things efficiently and effectively and didn't make me or my pain feel like a dollar point like the insurance adjusters had. Due to the situation at hand with my incident we were able to close fast and within 5 weeks my life is for the most part back together. He was the perfect pick in my time of need and I would recommend him to any and all.

Jeannie handled my traffic ticket. The whole experience was flawless : from submitting documents to getting ticket dismissed in court. Don’t get tickets, but if you do - I highly recommend her service.

Working with Koby on starting-up a craft distillery, has been a wonderful learning experience. Her approach has always been (since day one) direct & honest, to the point. Koby is able to explain legalities and contractual concepts in layman's terms to make them applicable to what we actually want to do: make rum. She has always provided feedback in a timely manner (even just to given indication on when a certain task will be completed). I look forward to continuing to work with Koby as we turn our start-up project into business reality.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bellevue, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
