Ryan is an extraordinary attorney who goes above and beyond. When I felt like all hope was lost, Ryan was there to support and guide me as my attorney. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have chosen a different person to represent me because Ryan is a gem in a world full of coal. Honesty, integrity and empathy are three words I would use to describe Ryan and his firm.

200% 5 Stars!!!!!!! Emily Rose and her wonderful staff were the PERFECT law firm for the challenges our family was dealing with during a lengthy and arduous probate. I contacted Limitless Law in desperation after years of trying to close out what had become a very mired situation and I chose Limitless Law based on the many positive reviews, my own research, and the initial phone consultation with Emily Rose that convinced me she had the skill, knowledge, and personality to help me. She was very practical and professional, yet always approachable when I had questions. She walked me through every step of the process, giving me advice to overcome each problem we faced, while including me in all decisions. I never felt unheard, talked down to, or otherwise negated in any way. I never felt she thought my questions stupid or the answers obvious. She included me in deciding the strategies, and helped our family finally reach a successful and harmonious closure. I cannot say enough good things about her! She streamlined every aspect of signing and payments, so it was easy to quickly finish documents and get them filed. Emily and her staff were also always very quick to respond, kind, attentive, which helped us to close out the estate quickly once we started. I will never stop singing the praises of Limitless Law, Inc. I have such gratitude for the help she gave us. If you need a guide to walk your through the probate process, THIS law firm is the one! They do not do litigation, which may be why they can focus on helping their clients so well, but they also will discuss your needs right from the beginning so you can find the help you need for your particular case, and there is no hard sell from them. Just sound and respectful advice. Thank you so much, Emily Rose and staff. You helped us through to the closure that had eluded us for so long. I am so grateful to you for your help. Sincerely, Elizabeth Mandranis.

I called today to inquire if Limitless Law would be available to file a Quitclaim deed. After gathering personal information, the receptionist stated the only way to find out was to schedule a $400 estate planning strategy session with Emily. I clarified we weren't looking for estate planning services at the moment, we were simply needing to file a Quitclaim deed and asked if Emily would be available provide this service. Again, the reception repeated that a $400 strategy session with Emily was required to answer this question. Hence the 1-star review.

Me and my family hired Zach for our case that had been at a standstill from a previous law firm. He made efforts to meet with my entire family in person and made sure to address each of our individual concerns. With Zach, me and my family were quickly able to close our case that had been hanging over our heads for years. He fought to get us the most money possible, and succeeded! Zach is very personable and I would recommend him to anyone!

I would consider Steve Chance to be one in a million. He is one of two lawyers that I have dealt with in my lifetime that had the honesty and fortitude to lay our case out in black and white. He explained the weaknesses and the strengths that our case had and did not make ANY hyped promises as to what we could expect. He has a quick mind and doesn't miss a point during depositions or trial. You would be hard pressed to find ANY lawyer that walks into a meeting as well prepared as Steve. That alone is worth its weight in gold and provides a level of trust and calm that is invaluable in legal situations.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bellingham, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
