Jason presented recently at our small business group, and did a great job explaining the Personal Injury world to us, and how he helps his clients out by providing a stress free way of navigating the journey to a settlement that is justifiable. I recommend anyone with a personal injury claim to call him for guidance/help.

I had an exceptional experience working with Lashay Jones and the team at this law firm. I was facing unfair move-out and cleaning charges from my previous landlord, but Lashay expertly defended me and ensured I wasn't taken advantage of. Lashay was incredibly talented, subjective, and customer-focused throughout the process. She meticulously reviewed all the evidence I had collected and built a bulletproof case on my behalf. Her professionalism and attention to detail were truly impressive. Thanks to Lashay's tireless efforts, we were able to settle the case in a very favorable way for me. I'm so grateful for her dedication to serving the truth and protecting her clients' rights. I would recommend this law firm and Lashay Jones without any hesitation. They provided an outstanding level of service and delivered an incredible outcome.

I changed to working with Jason from a large company. One of those companies that are on TV, billboards and so on. Working with Jason and his office crew has been easy for me. They have made this bad situation so much easier for me. And having him local is great. I know who is working hard to get things moving right along. Because of Jason and his team, I received a check. And they are still working on my claim. I would recommend anyone with a injury case to call his office 1st. Save yourself some time.

Dennis mediated a case for me recently. I was highly impressed with his ability to understand the case, apply the law and offer an unbiased opinion of what my expected outcome should be. Dennis spent time earnestly listening to the case and explaining the strengths and weaknesses of each parties side. Dennis was extremely helpful in the resolution of this matter and I felt that the service he provided was well worth the cost. Ultimately he was able to achieve the intended results of helping both parties reach a resolution. I am happy with the outcome of this mediation session and recommend Dennis.

Walter was hired regarding a bogus anti harassment case. After our first meeting I was shocked at possible outcome from such accusations. HIs quick and decisive action made the court proceeding a piece of cake. I have a great sense of security knowing to be engaged with him. I strongly recommend his services.

When I was blind sided with a BOGUS anti harassment restraining order out of the blue, I was unsure what to do or where to turn. I was referred to Walter Potebnya by an associate of his. What I liked most about consulting with and then hiring Mr. Potebnya was that he listened to me, was able to see me almost instantly, and heard me through my concerns for about 2 hours before ever discussing fees unlike most other attorneys who size out your wallet first. He took a strong interest in my situation and explained that he had experience in the area I needed professional help with. I felt very relieved after the consultation, and hired him for my issue at hand. He was very helpful throughout the period of uncertainty even taking calls after hours if I needed, which I did once. When our day in court came I cant say enough about how nice it was to have a confident attorney by your side. His professional and aggressive approach was exactly what I needed and sought after in a Lawyer representing me in court. He made very quick work of the case and in less than a hour, we had WON, and were out of the court room. I was please with his service and would recommend Mr. Walter Potebnya to anyone who asked.

When I found Mr. Dabney I was on my way to being dis-enrolled from my ROTC program, even after the board of officers found me innocent. As an ROTC cadet I was very much unaware of how the process worked and what needed to be done in order to save my not yet started military career. When I first met with Mr. Dabney, he seemed to understand exactly what was going on and even showed compassion to my situation. I was given several options on how to move forward and did not feel pressured in any way to hire Mr. Dabney. Instead, he made sure that I understood my options and advised me to take time and think about the pros and cons to bring him onto my case. After a few days I decided that in fact, it would be in my best interest to hire someone who knew what needed to be done. He helped explain what each form I was signing meant and even contacted my chain of command when he felt like they were making me do things that were unnecessary and that didn't follow the regulation. Mr. Dabney was very knowledgeable on regulations and was always available to help me when something new came up. It was within a month of hiring Mr. Dabney that I was reinstated into my program. I owe this victory to him. I would recommend any ROTC student that finds him or herself in a similar situation to not only hire Mr. Dabney, but to not wait as long as I did to do so. I would seek his counsel during the board proceedings as well as once the dis-enrollment or LOA begins. I wish I was aware of this valuable asset when the process first started.

Mr. Dabney engaged quickly with sound advice and wise counsel when it was needed most. He provided excellent recommendations, responsive communication, and a calm demeanor. He helped resolve a very difficult and painful issue with military leadership in a non-confrontational way, which was the best case scenario. *I tried to leave this review several months ago but it got kicked back by AVVO for some reason? Second attempt to recognize excellence by Mr. Dabney.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bothell, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
