For being one of the most expensive law groups around Centralia, they are super unprofessional. Every time we call to talk to the lawyer which we paid thousands to, they tell us no. The lawyer himself can not even remember the date of the court and when he screws up he calls us to go off on us. Even though as I said when we call we can't get a response. Last time we had court. We left to go to court to be turned around and told to go to the office. When we got to the office we sat for 20 minutes before the receptionist let only one of us go in to the office with lawyer though we've both been in the court proceedings for months. For the price they charge I do not recommend. All around rude people and horrible customer service. I paid $4000 to not have a phone call answered and the lawyer not even care about the results.

Id been in and out of court all my adult life fighting for rights to my son. With a crazy spiteful ex girlfiend. Ive had different attorneys throughout that time. it wasnt until i finally hired paul that i gained full custody of him. While i didnt always agree with how he wanted to handle things in the end he turned out to be 1000% percent right about everything he did and he was straight up to me always no bullshitting around he gave solid advice even if it was hard advice to follow. From the bottom of my heart and my sons to i know forsure. Im forever in debt to paul and the people in the office at enbody and dugaw the rest of my life.

A few years ago I was represented by Paul Dugaw in a divorce. I was being ordered to pay for all the ex wifes bill even tho we had been seperated for 5 years and no longer had any community property. When Paul was through all I had to pay was his small fee. I will recomend him to anyone needing divorce assitance. I have also heard he is a good defense attorney in criminal matters. But I can only say so second hand.

I was injured at work and went to see Mr. Abbarno at his office in Centralia. He and his staff were very knowledgeable and offered a free consultation to discuss my shoulder injury at work. He helped get my surgery approved, treatment, and got me back to work. It was a blessing to me and my family.

I hired Mr. Abbarno part way into my Child Custody/Child Support case. He came into a mess and had to fix and re-do things from a previous attorney I had. He did! He took the time and dug through it all and was amazing.. He took the time for me and took the time to understand in detail the truth in my case. I was a person and not a number or a paycheck and that was wonderful. I still am able to call and get his help if and when needed. He understands the ins and outs of the child custody/support world and gave his all for me and my kids. I am very thankful for him and would absolutely recommend him.

Peter represented us in a tough parenting plan with a lot of complicated issues. He was amazing and kept us informed throughout the entire difficult process. He went above and beyond in many areas. Peter would give many scenarios when we were uncertain on tough decisions, helping us see the big picture and possible challenges. In Meetings with him he always gave us 100 percent and never made us feel rushed and answered all of our questions. He was solid in court and in the end we were very happy with the results. Things have gone much smother in our life since.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Centralia, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
