This firm was incredibly helpful and very professional. Matt Conner and his paralegal Maddie walked me through every step of the process after my accident. I feel lucky to have found Matt’s team and would definitely recommend them.

I got in touch with Omar to help me contest a moving infraction on I 405. I did not understand why the WSP thought I had crossed a white line or failed to follow a sign. Omar and his team did a great job fighting my ticket and got it dismissed so I have no driving record. Omar is the best.

Amazing. First time getting a traffic ticket and first time hiring an attorney. The speeding ticket was dismissed on the first court date completely with no action needed. One less thing to worry about in this hectic life. Magic. I highly recommend Nur Law PLLC for legal needs. Thank you guys so much!!

I have met Jasmine in July 2023. My divorce was very complicated, high conflict. She was my 3rd lawyer, 1st was super lawyer, that told me I'm not priority, second was through my work that screwed up filling up at the court and I lost my son. I found her while searching for someone that could help me to get my son back and help me to find against my ex. From the very beginning, Jasmine was honest, upfront, direct. Always quick in response, always here for me. She quidded me through the process, was always calm, focused, organized. She always had in mind my best interest and interest of my son. She was very upfront with the cost and with what she will do and always also tried to make sure I do get charged correctly. She always advises me what she thinks I should do, but ultimately the decision was mine. Never pressured me, never made me feel like I'm just a number. She was blessing at this whole hard divorce.

I recently went through one of the worst experiences in my life—my divorce. I am so very grateful for the help and representation I received from Jasmine Mitchell. It was a true privilege to have her fight for me and my daughter. She sincerely and deeply cared about our well-being, happiness, and quality of life. She listened to my concerns, fears, wants, and needs. She was extremely personable and easy to talk to. Jasmine went up against a nasty, much more experienced attorney. Jasmine kept her cool but did not become jaded or flippant. She never lost focus of all that was at stake. She brought a skilled, yet fresh perspective to the case. She was always open and very human with me, and level-headed and fact-based in the proceedings. She was the steady hand that saved our lives in many ways. I honestly don’t know if I would have made it through without her, and I am quite sure that I would not have had such a positive resolution. Jasmine was a beacon of hope for both my daughter and I during an extremely difficult time. She knew my daughter was my top priority, so my daughter also became hers. We will be forever grateful for the peace and freedom her help has given us with the final support order. Jasmine’s calm and empathetic demeanor offered me so much needed emotional support during a time that the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed impossible. She always displayed a high level of professionalism, even when things got heated with opposing counsel. She exemplified honesty and kindness. She always stepped forward with the truth and held strong that it would prevail. After a long 3-day trial (not to mention months of legal wrangling and negotiation), Jasmine prevailed on my behalf and succeeded in winning even more than I had originally requested. I highly recommend Jasmine Mitchell without any reservation. She is the ally you want and the advocate you need by your side during the most trying times in your life.

I can't express enough how grateful I am to have found Jasmine Mitchell as my attorney. She is an absolute gem in the legal world! From the moment I reached out to her, she demonstrated exceptional professionalism and genuine care for my custody case. Jasmine's efficiency is truly remarkable. She wasted no time in thoroughly understanding the details of my case and devising a strategic plan, despite jumping into a two year case. She was relatable, genuine and I always felt confident that she had my best interests at heart. What sets Jasmine apart from other attorneys is her unwavering dedication. When other lawyers turned me away (we were two months before trial when we started looking for new representation), Jasmine took on my case without hesitation. She believed in me and fought tirelessly to ensure I got the result we had been hoping for for two long years. The hardest part about my previous representation was the communication. I felt like I was constantly begging for updates and waiting weeks for responses. There were charges being made without my knowledge, hearings I had no clue about, it felt overwhelming since I was out of state and rely on that communication. Jasmine never made me feel like that, she was clear about all finances, quick to reply, and did not hesitate to reassure me when I was anxious. I appreciated that more than anything. Jasmine was able to settle my case TWO DAYS before trial when mediation and two years of hearings could not. I was mind blown. If you're searching for an attorney who will fight for you with passion, expertise, and integrity, look no further than Jasmine. She is a true advocate for her clients and I highly recommend her to anyone in need of legal assistance. With Jasmine by your side, you can trust that you're in the best hands.

While dealing with a medical crisis in 2007 we needed immediate help in reviewing our legal affairs. Tracie Paul was very thorough, compassionate and effective in explaining all the options available. She helped us finalize health care powers of attorney, health care directive/living will reflecting our desires, and reworking our will. The financial implications are daunting when we are faced with an incurable debilitating disease but she helped us develop a plan and feel in control of our future.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Everett, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
