I hired David as my attorney when my ex-wife hired her own attorney in an attempt to acquire back child support, and modify our then existing custody agreement. David proved himself to be a competent family law attorney, with a good command of the law, plus the ability to explain things in a way that was understandable to a layperson like myself. In addition, David frequently used his good legal judgement to help me become aware of the options at my disposal. David worked hard to keep my case out of court, using mediation and direct consultation with the opposing counsel. He actively worked to limit my legal fees, and the risks of going to court. Unfortunately, due to the extremely litigious, and obstinate, opposing counsel, we were unable to avoid a trial/hearing. During the hearing, David demonstrated his good focus, thorough understanding of the law, and his aptitude for handling formidable legal opponents. I believe that the outcome of the contest, which maintained my 50% custody of my youngest son, and limited my personal financial impact, was due to David's high level of competency as an attorney. I am thankful that I retained his services, and would definitely recommend him to others who are faced with family law challenges.

I wrote to Lorna at the end of my 2.5-year custody battle - "Words are inadequate to express my gratefulness", and it's true. Lorna has been on my side for that long, not only as my counsel, but to me, also a friend, and a mentor. I remember talking to a dozen attorneys who all turned down my case because of its complexity - a divorce that invovled domestic violence, dependency, immigration, and relocation - yet Lorna was the only attorney that took genuine interest in my case, and she did not even charge me for our first 2-hour consultation. She actually read through over 3000 pages of my dependency case. She always responds promptly, sometimes even after office hours, she is thorough and detailed, insightful and empathic. She remained a delightful spirit despite my ex's constant threats, harassment, and accusation directed at her. Even though I could not continue to afford her representation toward the end of my case, and chose to represent myself in a 3-day trial, she guided me through every step to make sure I was prepared and capable. And I won, even with some extra icing on the cake I did not expect. The judge said he has not seen anyone go pro-se without an attorney and could carry out the whole trial like I did in his 14 years of experience, but I credited Lorna for her guidance. I couldn't have done it without her. She encouraged me and believed in me even when I doubted myself - unlike those lawyers on Avvo who always tell you that you are screwed if you're going to trial alone. I had reached the end of my divorce process and up until the time I retained David as my lawyer, my soon to be ex husband and I thought we could do this on our own. We were both under the impression a lawyer would make things contentious. However just days before our final hearing, I felt that I had made a mistake by not retaining counsel. David graciously took my case at the last minute and took the mounting stress off my shoulders. He helped to draw up a better parenting plan than we had created. His plan helped to eliminate the gray areas we had in our self prepared documents. He also helped establish a fair financial agreement. While in the future I hope that I wouldn’t need his services again, I wouldn’t hesitate to call him or recommend him to family and friends.

I hired David a year ago. He was terrible. I actually thought he was working for the opposing counsel. Terrible lawyer. I had to hire another attorney to clean up the mess he made after my divorce was final.
