Choosing a lawyer is a stressful process, on top of whatever situation you’re in that requires legal representation - you want the best possible person to represent you. I was indicted on federal charges and contacted a friend of mine who was in law school, for her recommendation of the best lawyer to handle my case in Washington. Her response was “Pete Mazzone, hands down.” Pete has gone above and beyond and I am so grateful to have gone with her recommendation. From the time I first met with Pete, I could tell he’s exceptionally smart and great at what he does. Pete doesn’t sugarcoat the situation you’re in- he doesn’t give false hope. He explains the best, most realistic outcome and what needs to happen to achieve it, all while in your best interest. Every time I have gone to court with Pete, he knows everyone and maintains a positive repore with all parties. You can tell he is respected & people like working with him- something that is only gained from years of experience and doing a great job. If you’re looking for a lawyer, I can’t say enough positive things about Pete- get a constellation and decide for yourself.

It's a challenge to describe in mere words what a phenomenal attorney Pete is. Throughout the entire time he handled my criminal case, which was a very serious, lengthy, and incredibly challenging one to achieve a positive outcome for, the fact that Pete unwaveringly demonstrated exceptional legal competency and skill, exuded a genuine, well-founded confidence, and gave me a significant amount of face-to-face time with him provided me comfort during the darkest time of my life and every reason to trust in him and have faith that everything humanly possible was being done to help me. Yet, more to the point, he never failed to pour less than the absolute full weight of his talent, energies, heart, and naturally persuasive personality into making genuine headway in turning the tide in my favor. Pete is of the extremely rare breed of attorney that will truly bend over backwards for each and every one of his clients, never giving less than a 110% effort in every case. Even more impressive is how crystal clear it is that he is literally personally invested in his clients, not just professionally so. Despite my initially severe post-war psychological disorders, the fact that he showed an authentic compassion for me as a human being and my plight, got me the help I needed, and never, ever wavered in his faith in me was a very significant source of strength for me from which I drew to help pull myself out of my severe depression, anxiety, and despair that got me into trouble in the first place. He is incredibly well networked: he has strong professional connections with the best professional experts, has very influential relationships with countless others throughout the criminal justice system, on both sides of the courtroom, so to speak, and has the diplomatic talent to maximize the benefits he can obtain from those professional relationships. If you are looking for a defense attorney that can work what seems like miracles, who sincerely sees and treats you as a redeemable human being who deserves a real shot at a second chance at life, and will do absolutely everything within his power to get the best possible outcome for you, Pete is your man. As others have described him, he is indeed a ferocious pitbull in defending his clients, but is also, at heart, a wonderfully compassionate human being--his work is not just a job to him. (He has kept in contact with me, after I was successfully released, to keep up on how well I'm doing.) He is the embodiment of the antithesis against the public's stereotypical perception of attorneys, and the epitome of exactly what every defendant across the country deserves to have when finding themselves up against the heartless beast the criminal justice system is in reality.

I met Pete in 2002. At first I thought I was making the wrong choice.. I was definatly not dissapointed with the services of Mr. Mazzone and his legal team. They are the best in the buisness. I was looking at spending the rest of my life locked away for circumnstances that were out of my control. He did everything and more that was told to me. At the same time he was representing another young man and got him completly exhonerated. He is a tazmanian devil in the courtroom. Thanks Pete!! T. Williams

I was facing a robbery and much more. Got caught up in a huge mess that was very sureal. Almost like it came straight out of a movie. Extremely complicated and very stressful. Pete kept telling me to relax and let him handle it. When you are facing jail time, it is not very easy to relax. Not only did he handle my case, but I never even stepped foot in a court room. Pete is more than amazing. Words cannot decribe how good I feel. If you are in a bad position in life, call Pete, it will be the best call you have ever made!

I was arrested for murder back in October of 2007, Pete was recommended by a friend of the family, and I am really happy that we took their advice. Pete and his team handled the roller coaster ride amazingly. They always had some one available to answer my questions in and out of jail. He was able to pick through my entire case witch was extensive near 3 thousand pages of discovery and memorize every bit that was necessary for him to get the point across. He will give you a straight answer with out beating around the bush, and when your in the kind of situation where you need him that's exactly what you want. Pete and his team were professional, prompt, and as long as you give him truth of the situation he will give it his all. Through my year long investigation and 2 week trial Pete used all of his extensive resources to show to the court the truth of what happened in my case. In the end I was acquitted of all charges and am now back in school as apposed to doing 25 to life. If you ever find your self in need of a lawyer I would start here.

From the outset of our engagement, Andrew was uber prepared. He knew my case, knew my history, and knew the spectrum of potential issues. Prior to my court date, he ably led me through a comprehensive prep for the hearing--assuaging all of my concerns and answering questions. During the actual hearing, Andrew was polished and composed; he was organized, thorough and seemed to anticipate the judge's actions. He made this process seamless. I can not imagine a better disability advocate than Andrew McDonald.

I have know C. Anthony for almost 30 years. I was in professional school when he was in Law School. I have always been impressed with Tony's honesty and integrity. He has been my attorney for 25+ years and I have had outstanding service and attention. Tony has the rare gift of humor that dovetails well with a highly professional presentation. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for an honest, caring, spirited, "real" family man. He has unique experience in several aspects of the law and has represented me in the health professions admirably. I view Mr. Davis as one of my closest and respected friends as well as my attorney. 5 stars...a true "10".

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Everett, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
