"We are extremely disappointed with the services we received from M' at Genesis. Despite having solid evidence to support our case, she advised us not to present it to the court, resulting in a prolonged and frustrating legal battle. After putting down a small retainer, M' quickly exhausted it on a single motion, followed by a bill that exceeded $800. Despite our attempts to communicate our dissatisfaction, Genesis never responded, and M' never offered an apology. We eventually decided to represent ourselves and, contrary to her repeated warnings, successfully won full custody. The very evidence she advised us not to use was pivotal in our victory. Our experience with her was marked by condescension and a lack of attention to crucial details about our case and children. It became clear that her focus was more on financial gain than on genuinely assisting us. I strongly advise anyone considering working with an LLT to think twice and shop around before choosing M' or Genesis. Our three-year ordeal could have been avoided with better guidance. There are many resources available, from free consultations to online legal advice, that can help you navigate the system without falling victim to costly and ineffective representation. While M' may initially come across as competent and trustworthy, our experience suggests otherwise. We were left feeling disrespected, misled, and financially drained. I would not recommend her or Genesis to anyone seeking fair and effective legal support."

If you are in the unfortunate situation where you are in need of a family law attorney, Genesis Law is the way to go. I have never needed an attorney before, so frankly, I didn't know what to look for when I needed one. Genesis has a reputation for honesty, even ending things with clients if they find out they have been lying. My experience with Sean Moore at Genesis lived up to that reputation. My case was a pretty complex and contested divorce (involving military benefits, four small children, a Guardian ad litem and a psychological evaluation). There were many hearings, an attempt at mediation and we eventually ended up in a 4 day long trial. There were many delays and difficulties in this case, and Sean Moore competently dealt with all of it. The opposing side had severe, untreated mental health issues which made it difficult to anticipate what bizarre talking point would be brought up in a hearing and in trial. Sean Moore was both strategic and flexible in trial as needed in this situation. I guess it is probably in poor taste to say someone "won" or "lost" in a divorce trial, so i'll just say that my children are now safe, i'm getting some compensation, and the other side's time with the children is severely limited until they receive and maintain mental health treatment. Thanks to Sean Moore, everything that should have rightfully happened in this case is now in effect.

I was so glad to have found an amazing LLLT. Mayra Noyes is kind, hard working, and great at what she does!

I went through Marya Noyes honestly because she is a LLLT and her hourly rate was cheaper than the other lawyers in the area. Since my divorce was uncontested and I didn’t need anyone to represent me in court, a LLLT was the best option for me. I spoke to a few lawyers first and Marya was by far the easiest person to talk to. She was responsive to emails, understanding and empathetic of my situation, just really a dream to work with. I was divorcing after 10 years of marriage with 3 children together so the paperwork included parenting plans, child support, spousal support, asset division, custody, visitation, the whole nine yards. I highly recommend Genesis and Marya specifically.

If you have other options, I do not recommend choosing this law firm. The final bill I received was far higher than the initial quote I received. First one lawyer/admin/paralegal took my call and gave me an estimate. Then she scheduled a 2 hour call with another lawyer in the firm. By the end of the 2 hour call, the new lawyer then gave me another estimate to finish the project that was way higher than the initial quote but I feel obligated to continue with them because of the 2 hour ($600+) sunk cost. What was more unacceptable was that the lawyer's response was not timely. Sometimes she didn't respond for 4 or 5 days after multiple follow up emails. And she claimed that she didn't receive the final signed document from the opposing lawyer due to email server issue (which I received through regular consumer Gmail account). I am not sure if she is telling the truth. If she is, I wouldn't want to work with a firm that has unstable email servers that may miss important legal emails. You should check out the law firm's Yelp reviews which I wish I have done before choosing them. Google reviews seem to have filtered out a lot of negative reviews. Not sure how long my review will last

James is a great attorney for any probate issues. We had hired James due to some issues with our probate matters, as expected James had extraordinary care for us though out the process. We had finally got through the bulk of the mess currently and expect to be finished with everything shortly. I would give my recommendations for James anytime.

After searching for my first Lawyer, and speaking with three different Lawyers, Mr. Pautler was firm, upfront, and did not beat around the bush. Out of all the Lawyers that I spoke with, Mr. Pautler told it like it was. I knew I wanted to hire this lawyer for my first lawyer. Once, hired, Mr. Pautler exceeded what I had first asked him for help with. He told me in order to fix my problem, certain steps had to be taken. With his help guiding me to follow required criteria, he not only help me fix my problem, but also helped me re-establish contact of lost loved ones. Mr. Pautler was very respectful, curtious, and told me "how the law" sees it. When my problem was solved, he told me so and ended our interaction in an appropiate manner to end the billing. I would recommend and encourage you to hire Mr. Pautler as your Lawyer. I see no need for me to seek out another Lawyer for myself, I will continue to seek counsel from him when ever I need a lawyer for myself. Thank you again Mr. Pautler for all that you have done for me.

Natalie is the most professional and caring lawyer that has ever helped me. I have hired two private practice lawyers in the last few years and have yet to be impressed. Natalie new from the beginning that the prosecution did not have a case, unfortunately the prosecution did not. I lost the case, however it was overturned on appeal. The trial judge had effectively cheated us as he changed the "to convict rules" after the trial!

Unfortunately I have had to be represented many times in the past in the criminal courts because of my drug addiction. The case that Natalie Tarantino represented me in was very serious. In the first few weeks that I was incarcerated I was going through withdrawals from heroin and my condition was somewhat delirium. First, Natalie had to convince me how serious my crime was. She discouraged me from going down some legal roads that were an option. Looking back I am glad I followed her advice and faced the consequences for my actions that benefited me in the long run. Natalie Tarantino was very professional, patient, and friendly. She did what she said she would.

I have know C. Anthony for almost 30 years. I was in professional school when he was in Law School. I have always been impressed with Tony's honesty and integrity. He has been my attorney for 25+ years and I have had outstanding service and attention. Tony has the rare gift of humor that dovetails well with a highly professional presentation. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for an honest, caring, spirited, "real" family man. He has unique experience in several aspects of the law and has represented me in the health professions admirably. I view Mr. Davis as one of my closest and respected friends as well as my attorney. 5 stars...a true "10".

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Everett, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
