I had a phone consult with Amanda to discuss a settlement after a dissolution of an intimate partnership. The consult was on a Wednesday afternoon. She told me she would have a settlement letter drafted by the following week and out to me. It took her four additional weeks to generate a letter. Covid was a complicating factor, however each Friday afternoon that I called to check on the status of my letter, there were excuses and almost outright hostility. No emails or calls to update me on progress. When they finally generated the letter and sent it out, they didn’t send a final copy to me. I got a new lawyer who is very communicative. He sent her an email to request a refund of my trust money and She charged me $103 to review his email and refund my money along with the almost $45 a week she charged me to call to check on the status of my overdue letter. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a professional. I wondered at times if there was something else going on in her life.

Amanda and her team were a welcome relief. The first attorney I hired in my divorce was shockingly terrible, and led to me completely losing faith in the family law system. Luckily I switched to Amanda. Amanda, Corie and Logan were incredibly professional and responsive. Their team provided expert personal advice without wasting time and money. Amanda and her team have my highest possible recommendation if you're looking for a family law attorney.

Ms. Campbell prepared my will. Helpful, accommodating, and practical. This was my second major work with her. In 2018, she prepared documents for me for a contract of some complexity.

Chris is the BEST! Truly, the best. I met with multiple attorneys while going through a divorce. I had a consultation when I was going to switch representation and his pointers for where I was in my situation were spot on! By following his advice I completely changed the momentum in my case. I interviewed a lot of lawyers and Chris is hands down the best. He was level headed and educated me in my current situation as well as managed my expectations for what was to come. I cannot recommend him enough. Tracie, his paralegal, and him make a great team and are so personal. Please make a wiser first choice than I initially did and just hire him. I am positive you will save thousands just by starting off with the right person to represent you.

I have been a client of Chris and Tracie’s for almost three years. I have worked with several other law firms and attorneys. I can say that it is possible to find a good attorney but it is very difficult to find a good law firm. Harbor Family Law provides the complete package. I have never met an attorney as calm and effective as Chris, a paralegal as incredible as Tracie, nor an operations manager as kind and considerate as Kelli. Harbor Family Law is what every client hopes to find when seeking an attorney. The staff upholds standards of integrity and diligence that is difficult to find elsewhere. Chris represents his cases with clarity and intelligence. He is direct while maintaining respect for all parties involved. He provides clients with insight and direction. Tracie is irreplaceable in the law community. She is responsive, and truly invested in her work. She is knowledgeable and has a vigor for the best possible outcome for their clients. As a team Chris and Tracie are exceptional. Together they provide a stable atmosphere where clients can trust that they are in good hands. Kelli is truly a breath of fresh air and a joy to communicate with. The character and dependability of Harbor Family Law is outstanding. I simply cannot recommend them enough!

Chris has been my attorney for over 12 yrs now, representing me in custody matters concerning my daughter. He has all the qualities a client would look for in their attorney. First, his communication style both with clients and in court is clear, calm, and genuinely empathetic. Chris is able to come up with rational solutions and present them to all parties involved in a very palatable way. He is also highly analytical and detail oriented, able to put together all the pieces of the puzzle to problem solve complicated cases with lots of data/documents. Chris has never missed a beat in getting me and my daughter the best possible outcomes, while always being direct and honest with me about potential outcomes. Last but not least, Chris appears to be highly respected within his own community both among other attorneys and judges/commissioners. It should also be noted that Chris has an exceptional assistant. Tracie is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and empathetic. Together, they make a truly indispensable team that I cannot recommend highly enough!

Alessandro helped me out with an inheritance case which involved me while I was living on the other side of the world. I was looking for an English speaking lawyer in Italy desperately and Ale has responded promptly. We worked out payment terms to suit both sides and I was relieved I had someone with his credentials behind me. For many months we dealt on the case long distance via email and he always responded immediately to my questions and kept me updated. Now it is over and I am relieved and glad with the outcome. Ale also left the impression of being a very balanced lawyer, not a cut-throat or an indecisive type, but smart, knowledgable and looking for the best solution in any situation. He is also reallistic about the outcomes and that helped me a lot. I have discussed the case with other lawyers at some point and glad I went with Alessandro, in fact I think reviews on this site were quite a factor on deciding to chose him. Definitely can recommend to anyone, especially so if you ever need an Italian lawyer, you won't regret. Ciao Ale and all the best!

I was born and live in Australia however have familiy based in Italy. In 2009 my mother who was on holidays in Italy was killed in a car accident and I was desperate for help to get my mothers body back but also the ongoing legal options I would have in Italy with my limited Italian language capability. I found Alessandro on the Internet and then called him to explain the background and he provided me advice and guidenance with no obligation and when I decided to take legal action against the insurance company Alessandro arranged everything for me, In this very bad time in my life having someone explain facts to me, in a language I could understand has been invaluable. If anyone would like to speak to me for a reference I can be contacted on +61 410 030 393. Damian Cecchi

Alessandro is a good lawyer. He knows the system and how to operate within it. He was honest about the process yet showed great compassion to me and my family. When the process slowed and we got frustrated Alessandro worked harder on our behalf to move things along. I will always be indebted to Alessandro. I would like to think my family and I can count him as a true friend. I would highly recommend Alessandro to anyone. Top Notch!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Gig Harbor, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
