My wife and I were involved in a motorcycle accident that injured us both. We would never have been able to navigate everything Mr. Reinig took care of. Bill is kind, compassionate, experienced, and extremely skilled in his craft, which is making sure his clients are compensated for their injuries, ours having been a motorcycle accident. He was not only in consistent communication with us, but he was persistent in communicating with all parties involved and getting our case resolved. I have much appreciation for the job he did on our behalf and I am truly grateful he was here in the Tri Cities when this event happened. Thank you Bill for a job well done!

Prior to having Bill as my legal counsel I had never had any need for an attorney. I was injured in an auto accident in 2015 & had no idea where to turn, so I asked my chiropractor if he could recommend anyone to me. I didn't want to just pick someone out of the Yellow Pages or from an online ad. Much to my delight my chiropractor recommended Bill Reinig to me. He & his son Zach pretty much held my hand throughout the rather lengthy process. I was always kept in the loop & each step was painstakingly spelled out for me by them. When all was said & done my settlement far exceeded what I was expecting. So this is end of the story, right ? But wait there's more ! The settlement check was mailed to me. It was a 5 digit check. I took it to my bank to be deposited & the ATM machine ate it & did NOT give me credit for the deposit ! I tried for an entire week to get this resolved with my bank, but it just wasn't happening. They were telling me that it would take as much as 45 days for this to be resolved. I was beyond frustrated. So, as a last resort I called Bill's office & explained to Cindy what had happened. This was on a Friday at about noon. Bill was out of the office until the following Wednesday. The office staff typically leaves the office at 1 PM on Fridays. The bookkeeper was out until sometime the following week. Cindy called Bill immediately & explained the situation to him. Within 15 minutes Bill called me. Within 30 minutes they put a stop payment on the original check, issued a new check & sent via FedEx overnight to me. Now that's some over the top service if you ask me !! I define great service as something that happens when you least expect it. So ,if you are like me & you don't who to turn to for someone that will protect & serve your best interests, then please do yourself a favor & call Bill Reinig. You will sleep better because you made the right choice. I don't make statements like this unless they are well deserved & this one without question certainly is !!

William reinig, (bill) is truely a nice man! He really cares, actually cares about his clients being made whole again. He does everything he can and beyond to keep open communication with his clients, he fights for every penny for his clients! When my husband and I met him, the first thing I thought was he was not at all like the stereo types and jokes that come with the title attorney. I would recommend him to anyone! I couldn't have had a better experience, given the unfortunate circumstances. Thanks, Bill!

Jay is a great man and lawyer. He, and his partner Kristi McKennon represented me after I was in an accident at work, causing me to lose my right leg. Over the two years, Jay and I would talk regularly about my case, but also how my family and I were. He was always concerned about our well being and made me feel like we were not only his clients, but his friends. Jay always made sure that whatever I needed to have done, whether it was traveling for appointments, changes to my prostethic, or anything pertaining to my case/well being was done. It was done correctly and compassionately. Jay always made sure that I was always prepared before testifying, or giving my deposition, and I would recommend him, and Kristi to anyone needing legal help with personal injury

Jay has been my rock and a bright light in my life for many years. Since I've been working with Jay and his law partner Kristi Mckennon, my life has become such an amusing occasion in every way. I really recommend you get to know Jay if you have the time. Totally worth it! I was the victim of a home invasion where I was brutally beaten, raped, and left for dead. The maintenance man at the complex where I lived was a DNA match, as well as having a mountain of evidence against him, and was charged with the crime. I did not attend the trial except to testify as I was still recovering from this horrific incident and trying to cope with the physical and mental consequences in the aftermath. During the criminal trial, detailed facts were revealed that all duplicate keys to the resident’s dwellings were not secured by the management and that obtaining the duplicate key to my apartment was indeed how that man gained access to my home. One of my doctors had previously recommended Jay Flynn to me should I ever decide to move forward with a civil case against the complex. I’m summarizing this backstory as a preview of my experience with, and to emphasize the extent of compassion and trust, distinctive motivation to excellence, and life’s value and worth when a job is well done. I was an incredibly fortunate witness to how easily Jay Flynn and his law partner Kristina Mckennon brought these positive aspects back into my life after such a tragic event. When I heard news from the criminal trial that the duplicate keys to every person’s apartment home in that complex were not secured in any way (256 units), and the owners and management felt duplicate key security was insignificant under the circumstances, I made up my mind to change that. I could not live with the fact that such a horrific event could happen to someone else because of such a serious, yet easily solved problem, such as security of duplicate apartment keys. So I contacted Jay Flynn while the jury was still in deliberation during the criminal trial. The outcome of the criminal trial was in favor of the prosecution and the convicted criminal now serves 24 ½ years to life in prison. The civil case is now resolved also. And with Kristi Mckennon as the lead, teamed with Jay Flynn and myself, sponsored by Representative Gael Tarleton, ESHB1647 was signed into law in Washington State on April 26, 2013. This law bridges the gap in Washington State law regarding security of duplicate keys in residential rental dwellings.

Carlos Villareal, I visited with Carlos regarding a case for my step-dad and he not only answered all of my questions but also prevented the deportation. He was always on the nail with the information. His criminal background to the matter was an asset to the our case. I highly recommend Carlos!.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Kennewick, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
