The title says it all. David and Jill worked really hard on my behalf in a parenting plan modification. It was a difficult case, and they both took a lot of time and patience with me to achieve the best outcome. Everyone that I had any kind of interaction with was great! I highly recommend them to anyone that needs a good attentive attorney for family matters cases.

I wanted to update my review for Mr. Lutz as I didn't include his Paralegal. Jill Conner as an aboslute superior performer. Her attention to detail, knowledge, and experience was unsurpassed. She really poised David Lutz for success. Here's my original review with updates. Mr. Lutz was amazing and he packs premium performance in a budget price.I had a fraudulent DVPO filed against me. My wife’s claims were untrue. She was attempting to use this as the common “silver bullet” technique used to get the upper hand in a divorce. Mr. Lutz helped explain what I needed to do in order to prove my innocence. I provided my evidence to him and his amazing paralegal. He helped me feel confident by explaining the process and what was to come. He went to court with me and calmly incapacitated the opposing counsel. He calmly told the commissioner my wife’s claims didn’t at all meet the definition of domestic violence. I probably didn't even need an attorney. My ex wife's attorney Bryan Murry was a bumbling, ever failing attorney. He was often scrambling for reference documents, and seemingly perpetually unorganized. To me, his performance indicated he obtained his education at a low-tier community college. I really hope he can get a new job and get trained by the best so he can succeed, as he was unscrupulous and unethically proceeded to talk bad about me after the commissioner had dismissed his case and publicity asked why he had brought this to the court. I fear until he gets help from a mentor, he will let down, and disappoint any client he takes on. He will willingly take money even though the case is not winnable, so I guess that's a good think. Using Mr. Lutz and Ms. Morfitt against him was like using a tactical nuclear weapon against Popsicle stand. The judge dismissed the case after agreeing with my explanations in my documents and concurring with Mr. Lutz. He’s still helping my divorce case and I’m hoping for another victory while keeping cost to a minimum. Mr. Lutz has been great to work with so far. He knows how what he’s doing and does his best to keep costs as low as possible. Mr Lutz, Ms. Morfitt, and Jill Conner were fantastic and I highly recommend paying them to help you succeed and the truth come out.

David and Kay were great in helping get my case dismissed. I really liked that David took the time to consult w/me prior and understand what the issues were. His team worked expeditiously to get everything done, despite it being holiday season. This was a remote case and so I needed to rely on their professionalism via email & phone in order to get this accomplished. My only minor criticism would be their billing/invoicing system - I'd get an email asking for various amounts w/out an invoice attached. When I would ask for an invoice, the amounts would be different and it so it was not clear what I needed to pay. This can be easily fixed (hint, David!).

I worked with Mr. Rundle through Mr. Lutz's firm. Mr. Rundle was straightforward with his legal advice, placing his emphasis on my needs and not his own, which is rare for most attorneys. I will most assuredly return to this firm in the event I require additional legal assistance.

Mr. Kirshenbaum helped me once as a public defender. True colors shine through when you're not the one paying your attorney. I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience, and I had hired him again when I needed help. Professional, knowledgeable, and straight-forward. Thank you David!

I hired David to assist me with 8 year old DUIs. He was very up front and set my expectation early. The process once hiring David became very fluid and he did better than anticipated in assisting me. I have since recommended him to several people and their feedback was inline with my own.

Jenn is an absolutely amazing criminal defense lawyer, She aggressively assisted on the criminal charges against me and, as a result, I avoided potential significant jail time and loss of license. I am a licensed, insured driver, with a job that allows me to support my family. Without Jenn's help I was facing jail, license suspension and the impact that these would have had on my work and family. Jenn did a tremendous job on my case, and I recommend her without reservation.

It was a quick process with her help and much easier than doing it myself. Once I saw the requirements, I realized I needed an expert and Ms. Ehrlich made it simple for me. She was really nice, spoke my native language perfectly, and was very professional. I always knew what was going on when I spoke to her.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Kent, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
