Kevin was referred to me through another firm and I am so very glad they did. He handled my case in the appellate courts with the utmost professionalism and yet explained everything in terms that were easy to understand so I wasn't lost before, during, or after proceedings. Kevin's office kept me apprised without overly contacting me and I never once felt that my money was ill spent. He was upfront regarding expectations and chances for success and I never felt mislead or misrepresented. I would highly recommend Kevin Hochhalter.

Diane helped me in the worst time of my life. After being an abusive relationship i found myself in need of her service. She advocated for me and also helped me through everything. I will forever be grateful for her help. If you want a truly caring and amazing lawyer who will listen, do everything in her power for you, communicate well, and not just care about the money, you need Diane. I don’t think everything would have been done and over if it wasn’t for her. Thank you Diane did everything.

Diane is absolutely the best! I had gotten into some serious legal trouble a couple years back and was given a public defender. After consulting with the public defender and a few other attorneys I was told the outcome would be bleak. I was blessed to stumble across her profile and eventually hire her. It was the best decision I could have made as she fought hard for me and armed with her wealth of knowledge was able to get my case dismissed!!

Being audited by the government is never a good experience. We sought professional advice from Fabio, and were delighted with his ability to see our situation clearly and advice us correctly. He then followed through with all his commitments and the end result was exactly as he predicted. I can say he has a brilliant mind and a great personality.

As a small business owner I have been in the situation of having to use legal services multiple times, unfortunately. But how do you select a lawyer once you realize you need one? I tend to be a careful person when it comes to spend $150+/hour. So, whenever I needed a lawyer, I did a lot of research online trying to understand where I would get the best service for the least amount of money, but in the end I always found myself selecting lawyers who had been recommended to me. I highly recommend Fabio’s legal services. Having used different lawyers before, I have learned that the value of a lawyer is not reflected in his or her hourly rates. Ultimately, paying $25 or $50 more or less per hour doesn’t make a difference when it comes to legal services, at least in my eyes. What we all seek from lawyers is the certitude that the lawyer is knowledgeable, well prepared and able to give the legal advice that we need. But, most importantly I feel that a good lawyer is someone who is genuinely interested in providing the best service possible to his client and is willing to go the extra mile making sure that all aspects of the legal issue have been screened, thus giving the client a piece of mind an extra $25 or $50 can not pay. In Fabio you will find a person who is genuinely interested in delivering the best service possible and works hard in order to find the best solution for your legal issues. Fabio is smart, accurate, a quick thinker who doesn’t waste his and your time and is always well prepared and willing to spend the extra energy in order to find you your piece of mind. I give him 6 stars and know that if you are looking for a truly good lawyer, your search should end here.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lacey, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
