Although my struggles are not over yet, Katherine got me out of one of the hardest possitions I ever dreamed of finding myself in. She not only edgucated me on the Law but pulled me out of a corner I put myself in. Without her legal Aid, my voice would have never been properly heard. I paid another lawyer twice what I paid Katherine just to jepurdise my case. Let me just say without this Law Firm I may have never had the glimps of hope, I have for my child now. Thank you Katherine!!! Let me not forget about madeline. She was with me every minute of the whole case. at every hr!!! she was very nice and answered every question I answered! I had an emergancy, where my childs mother wanted to send a stranger out of no where, across states to transport our child... I sent madaline a Email as I was panicking. Wondering if I had to actually hand my child over to a stranger. She quickly got back to me at night time and said. No, you do not have to give your child to a stranger. Unless the BM is there. I could not know where I would be without these 2, but if I had to guess. Without their quick thinking and fast preparation. Probably in a way worse place then I am now. I am forever greatful! Thank Tresa Sadler...

Before working with Tresa and her team, I believed I had to choose between an unpersonable, matter-of-fact attorney or one who offered comfort but lacked courtroom aggression. However, Tresa shattered this misconception. Combining her unmatched expertise with genuine compassion, she strikes the perfect balance. Throughout the entire legal process, I felt empowered by her unwavering dedication and strategic approach, ensuring my best interests were protected. Tresa, thank you for proving that it is possible to have it all – a skilled attorney who genuinely cares. You and your team have truly made a significant impact on my life.

Tresa and her team are extremely knowledgeable, very responsive and have won for me every time in court. I first retained Tresa in 2021 and my ex has taken me to court at least 1-2 times per year since. Tresa won a contempt case against the mother, but more notably Tresa won a full trial to prevent child relocation. WA state relocation law favors the parent with more residential time and in my case that is the mother. I have a typical EOW and mid-week visit parenting plan. However, Tresa successfully won a full trial and prevented my ex from moving out of state with our child. Other attorneys told me I had a 10% chance to win just due to the law. Nonetheless, Tresa fought hard for me. She is absolutely fantastic and puts your wishes first. She’s extremely knowledgeable about family law and I would recommend her to anyone!

Pros
1
Highly knowledgeable and skilled attorneys who are adept at navigating complex legal cases, especially in family law and personal injury
“Tresa is very smart and knows the law extremely well. It was, at times almost embarrassing for opposing counsel.”
2
Attorneys who are compassionate, caring, and go above and beyond to support and advocate for their clients
“Tresa not only edgucated me on the Law but pulled me out of a corner I put myself in. Without her legal Aid, my voice would have never been properly heard.”
3
Attorneys who are responsive, communicative, and make themselves available to clients, even outside of normal business hours
“Weekends, evenings, even while I was away at work using a satellite phone and a third party messaging application it did not matter. I always felt like my sometimes dumb and irrational questions were heard and answered.”
4
Attorneys who are dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for their clients, even when the odds seem stacked against them
“Tresa was able to secure for my kids and I the time we deserve together, a fair child support amount and believe it or not court ordered visitation for my parents while I am out of state at work.”
5
Attorneys who are transparent, honest, and do not engage in deceptive practices
“Never once during this entire process did I question that I had made the wrong choice in hiring Tresa as my attorney.”
Cons
1
Some clients felt that the attorneys did not always clearly and transparently explain the legal proceedings or prepare them adequately for court
“Mr Kim never took initiative to help me prepare for any legal procedures. I was the only one that initiated preparation in anticipation of legal battles.”
2
Some clients had difficulty communicating with the attorneys, either due to language barriers or a lack of accommodations for scheduling
“I travelled a long way to meet with Mr. Kim because I thought he spoke Korean. Soloman lacked consideration for my schedule and never provided any accommodations such as meeting after work and on weekends.”

I needed help with a power of attorney that would be effective overseas. Brenda did a fantastic job. She checked the embassy requirements, got in touch with embassy, and promptly and accurately drafted the poa. All that at a very reasonable budget.

I live in a small mobile home park in the unincorporated area of Snohomish county so when the big maple tree directly in back of my home became unsafe and one large part of it fell on my roof and back wall last winter, I could not call any city inspector/agency for assistance. The park owner called it an act of God and took no responsibility for it; luckily I had good insurance and repairs were done in a timely manner. The problem was not over though; there were additional branches and trunks which were leaning and clearly unsafe and my landlord would only remove one which did not overhang my home at all, just helped out my neighbors. I attempted to speak with hiim about the issue several times thru the winter and spring but his attitude was not cooperative and he finally refused to discuss it at all. I waited for a full year for him to do something-anything and when the situation became impossible to live with, I hired Brenda. I had previously contacted the state AG's office to see if they could assist me but they informed me it did not fall under their purview. Brenda looked up the applicable case law, found something and mailed a polite but firm letter to my landlord quoting the law and giving him a time frame for abiding by the letter of that law. Within 10 days, the tree was down and I have peace of mind again. Her rates were reasonable and she kept in touch with me during the process as to what she was doing and making sure I was on board with it. I would definitely hire her again if the need arises and recommend her highly.

My husband had been disabled for awhile and several lawyers told us he was too young, or find him a job he could do even under the extreme circumstances of his disability. Debra truly listened, gave us clear explanations for what was happening, was extremely helpful, informative, and took our case. I believe we would still be fighting for rights without her assistance.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Mill Creek, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
