I paid her the retainer and monthly fees as agreed and she went MIA on my son. I am presently fighting with the Bar Association who re-opened the case I have against her. If you are having issues with her representing you, please contact me ASAP or the Bar Association. I will authorize my complaint to be released to you. DO NOT let this woman take your money and not represent you. The reviews about her going missing after you’ve paid her are TRUE. It’s time WE the people start fighting back. I refuse to give up on this matter. I believe and respect the law and she has shamed it. My TRUTH will be heard.

Donna helped me with my divorce. She is knowledgeable and clearly has a desire to help her clients. Her fee estimates were extremely reasonable. She's been in the community for over 30 years and I just loved the conversations I had with her off the clock. She's somebody who I will consider a friend going forward.

I am a client of Donna J Campbell, paid to retain her services and signed the attorney cllient agreement at our inperson meeting. When Ms. Campbell and I met in person I provided all the paperwork necessary to file my bankruptcy and was directed by Donna to take the online bankruptcy class in order to file my case and once the online class was completed she would file by bankruptcy. I immediately took the class and when completed I received my email confirmation notification the online class was complete and email confirmation was also sent to Ms. Campbell. I assumed everything was in order, but did not hear from Ms. Campbell for several weeks. I called and sent emails and finally heard from Ms. Campbell who stated that she was in the middle of another case and to contact her again in one month. I was very dismayed, as I understood that my case would be filed after the online bankruptcy class. When I did finally hear from Ms. Campbell she informed me she did not receive email confirmation of the online bankruptcy class and that I would have to take it again and that my paperwork was incomplete and that she would not be able to file at this point because I would have to retake the online bankruptcy class and my paperwork was not complete. I have several times tried to contact Ms. Campbell by email, telephone and went to her place of business (her home) and still no response. I would also like to note that during my in person meeting with Ms. Campbell she spent a large amount of time at our inperson meeting speaking negatively about her family which I felt was very inappropriate. I should have noted that as a red flag and not retained Ms. Campbell's services. To date I have paid, retained, signed the attorney/client agreement and Ms. Campbell will not respond to my emails or phone calls. I highly do not recommend Ms. Campbell's services.

I was recommended to Donna Campbell based on her reputation and skills as a Bankruptcy Attorney. I went to see her and prior to our meeting we spoke on the phone. I was impressed by her knowledge and words of the law were flowing naturally! She explained everything very clearly, told me what I needed to bring, filing fees, her rates (which were very very affordable in comparison to others) and we met! Everything was done so smoothly and I felt great about everything. She answered all of my questions, did not make me feel rushed and clarified as much as I needed. MANY MANY THANKS Alexias

Jonathan and I have fought several legal battles together over the past 10 years. His work and advice are impeccable. But it is his calming and disarming demeanor that has helped me to keep my cool and make good decisions in the heat of battle. We've all joked about how it seems every attorney you meet "gives lawyers a bad name"; well not Jonathan. Jonathan truly is one of the good guys!

Jonathan is an incredible member of our community. He generously gave fantastic advice and helped my family navigate through a stressful landlord/tenant dispute. He is honest and has the utmost integrity. He was fair, balanced, and was excellent counsel. I cannot thank or recommend him enough. Please read his other reviews. I echo their sentiments heartily.

I had a shoulder injury due to a flu shot, and Kelly handled all the details from start to finish. Kelly was precise and articulate all the way through the case. She showed concern and understood my worries with the injury. Very professional and smart. I am glad I had her in my corner.

There are no words to describe how great an experience I had with Kelly. She helped me get a settlement for my SIRVA case and went way above and beyond her duties when I thought we would not reach a settlement. I would never recommend anyone else for a Vaccine case!

I had an injury due to a flu shot. While I eventually did recover, I had lost work time as well as over $600 of physical therapy co-pays that I was responsible for. I had read that there is a way to get compensated by the government for losses such as these and I was referred to the Burdettes. Over the course of almost 2 years Kelly kept in touch with me, got the documentation she needed, and amazingly enough, I actually got a settlement from the government. I had not even known such a service existed. I am very grateful to Kelly for all that she did and will use her again if I need legal services.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of North Bend, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
