I had a life changing brain injury that put a screeching halt to my professional life. Laura Fedorko at Putnam Lieb has been amazing. She has helped my wife and I navigate through a complex claim and helped us through a very challenging life event. Laura has always made herself available when we have questions and she obviously knows her way around the process and practices of the L&I system.

DO NOT HAVE THEM REPRESENT YOU. If I could give a negative 5 star I would they do not even deserve 1 star my husband went there with a serious injury to his back and stomach from being squished and penned against a machine that luckily didn’t kill him. We went to this place to get an attorney for professional help and got not one bit of professional help first off the attorney, Laura, Fedorko has very poor communication, she excepted my husband’s case and I feel like she didn’t do anything, except for maybe dispute a denial, but other than that was just sitting around like ducks, waiting for whatever to happen instead of fighting for her client like she should when my husband and I went into the office, to take bills that we are receiving from his injury, and give them updated APF papers for work they would get upset. The lady that works at the front decided it would be OK to holler at my husband when he was trying to talk and practically tell him to shut up not giving him a chance to say what he wanted to say after she told him that he had to pay his bills from the work injury, which is not our responsibility after that situation, Laura decided she was going to have her translator call to make an appointment not to give us updates on the case but to tell my husband that his wife is no longer allowed to have anything to do with his case no communications to help make things easier because I told her assistant upfront not to raise her voice and holler at my husband like that again to act professional, like she should and to tell her own client that he cannot go into the office or call that he had to go through a translator named Carlos and when he tried going through the translator, he would always have attitude as well and his response would be I don’t know I’m not a lawyer but then not even relay much of anything to the Laura so with that being said there is so much more but I don’t wanna get into everything however, if you’re looking for a professional attorney to help you in the situation that you are in DEFINITELY DO NO GO THROUGH PUTNAM you need somebody that is going to be more understanding more caring about their clients, more communicating and help their client get what they need and deserve you will not get that from this place and if you decide to go through them good luck hopefully you have better luck than we did. The only two times she made an appointment was because she wanted to vent because we were calling to try to find out if there was any new news on the case and that upset them Because apparently clients should not call or know any new updates or anything with your case you just need to give it to him and let it sit for who knows how many years because it’s a long process she says it makes it even longer when you don’t do anything to try to speed things up so if you decide to go with them, good luck, God bless and I hope you the best of luck Thanks for nothing Putnam Law

I was very pleased with Andrew Yi as my attorney. I believe I was given the best professional advice and assistance with my court case with him as my attorney. Because of his diligence I had a excellent outcome in my court case. I highly recommend him. Would most definitely have him again. That only being the case I find myself needing an attorney again. God Willing I don't...

When I first contacted Andrew Yi, I had planned on meeting with several lawyers so I could shop around and really get one I was comfortable with, since my previous encounters had been pretty terrible. I've even had a lawyer call me AFTER the case was settled, only to bill me over $100 for a follow up phone call that lasted five minutes. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous about going through all that again. But after meeting with Andrew, I knew I didn't need to talk to anyone else. Even though he told me exactly what to expect, he was still very reassuring and friendly. I never felt like I was just a client to him. He really seemed to care about me and my case from the very beginning. Not only that, but he showed incredible aptitude in the court room, and everything went so much smoother than I had imagined. He speaks the language of the prosecutors, and seemed to have no trouble getting what he wanted. I certainly hope I will not need a lawyer again any time soon, but in the unlikely event that I do, I will be contacting Andrew Yi immediately.

From start to finish Mr. Yi was extremely helpful. I feel I am more knowledgeable about the law now just from the short time I spent with Mr. Yi about my case. I would recommend to anyone to hire Mr. Yi especially for DUI help!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Olympia, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
