I have nothing but good things to say about Terry and his team. He advocated for me and got me the settlement amount that I thought I deserved without litigation. Him and his team communicated promptly and were pleasant to work with. I highly recommend this firm for any personal injury or auto accident settlement needs!

I was traumatized and injured after my car accident in which a person decided texting was more important than driving. Getting barraged by insurance company calls while trying to heal was incredibly stressful - especially during the pandemic. That’s when I reached out to Terry Church. From Day 1, he and his team were amazing. They were responsive, personally accessible, experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled at negotiating. I appreciated their solid integrity and the fact that they are a local firm. I felt cared for throughout the process and trusted Terry and Joey explicitly. The end result was a more than fair settlement along with having all of my medical costs covered. I am super grateful I chose this firm and I highly recommend this team of legal experts.

My wife and I came to Terry after we had the misfortune of being hit by distracted drivers. We had never been in an accident before. We were nervous about litigation, but our insurance company was bullying us into prematurely wrapping up our medical treatment. Terry explained the litigation process in simple terms. He was readily available to answer our questions. He got our insurance company to pay our medical bills. He prepared us for arbitration and trial. However, thanks to his expertise and skill, we were able to settle everything outside of court. Our settlement was more than double what we anticipated. Working with Terry Church and the Church Rietzke firm was an absolute pleasure. Terry and his staff alleviated our stress. Terry’s calm, kind demeanor was extremely refreshing. However, Terry has the tenacity and assertiveness to yield big results. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude. I recommend Terry Church to anyone who has been in a car accident, and I strongly encourage anyone who has retained his services to relax and let Terry and his team handle everything. I trust his discretion, expertise, and professionalism.

I contacted the office of Church Rietzke Johnson for assistance due to being involved in an accident and the insurance company was refusing to help me because they were claiming that they were not responsible. I am extremely pleased with their Professional service. They were very friendly, understanding and fought hard for me. I was also pleased with their communication, I was never in the dark about what was going on with my case and that made me feel at ease. Hopefully I don't need an attorney again, but if I do then I am contacting Terry Church and Joey first.

I got into a car accident in October of 2019. I was hit from behind by a company car driven by someone with a suspended license! It wasn't a horrible accident, thank you Jesus, but it did give me whiplash and some soft tissue damage in my shoulders. My chiropractor has worked with Church Rietzke Johnson before and recommended them. They were incredibly responsive, even during the pandemic, and kept me updated during the whole process. My case just settled last month and I'll be receiving the amount soon. I'm so glad I went to them and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking legal help with personal injury!

I was very pleased with Andrew Yi as my attorney. I believe I was given the best professional advice and assistance with my court case with him as my attorney. Because of his diligence I had a excellent outcome in my court case. I highly recommend him. Would most definitely have him again. That only being the case I find myself needing an attorney again. God Willing I don't...

When I first contacted Andrew Yi, I had planned on meeting with several lawyers so I could shop around and really get one I was comfortable with, since my previous encounters had been pretty terrible. I've even had a lawyer call me AFTER the case was settled, only to bill me over $100 for a follow up phone call that lasted five minutes. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous about going through all that again. But after meeting with Andrew, I knew I didn't need to talk to anyone else. Even though he told me exactly what to expect, he was still very reassuring and friendly. I never felt like I was just a client to him. He really seemed to care about me and my case from the very beginning. Not only that, but he showed incredible aptitude in the court room, and everything went so much smoother than I had imagined. He speaks the language of the prosecutors, and seemed to have no trouble getting what he wanted. I certainly hope I will not need a lawyer again any time soon, but in the unlikely event that I do, I will be contacting Andrew Yi immediately.

From start to finish Mr. Yi was extremely helpful. I feel I am more knowledgeable about the law now just from the short time I spent with Mr. Yi about my case. I would recommend to anyone to hire Mr. Yi especially for DUI help!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Olympia, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
