You will never be in the presence of anyone more moral, kind, caring and truthful than Eric Fong. I have known him since he was still in law school when he rented an apt and my roomate and best friend,Vitginia, showed AND he bought his first home. It has been a pleasure watching this young man turn into the well developed distinguished man that he is!!!. We love him now and forever!!!!!

When I was wrongly charged with a violation of a DUI that had been deferred for three years I knew I needed a good lawyer that would work for me. After talking with Eric I knew he was not only compassionate, kind, nonjudgmental and Very knowledgeable, I knew he had my better interest at heart. I knew that I was more than just a c very knowledgeable, I knew he had my better interest at heart. I knew that I He saw me from myself worth and that it was more than a client lawyer relationship.. he took the time to make me feel like my case was the most important case he had. He made me feel like a human being that deserved their day in court and I knew he would fight for me! He was relentless ! He made phone calls and spoke to people and put me on the right track. My case was stricken from the record and I know that would not of happened without Eric Fong as my lawyer. If you want somebody tenacious and that is diligent and honorable and still stays humble about his journey on this planet... don’t hesitate to call him if you’re in need of a lawyer that will represent you And always have time to let you know what’s going on and of course give you a great end result if it is within his powers !

As a paralegal I have dealt with many attorney's. Mr. Fong definitely breaks the mold! He is compassionate and seems to really care about his clients. He is available to speak with by text which is super convenient! Even though our matter is now resolved, he is still available to talk at any time, and truly cares about his clients as people. I appreciate his work on my matter and hope you give him a shot! You will not be disapointed!

Kim went above and beyond for me in a Criminal Court System that seems to never have a Victory for the Defence. I was very lucky to be blessed with such an amazing attorney. She was there for me every step of the way and when I looked her up so I could refer her to a close friend I could not believe that not a single person has written her a review. Kim is an exceptional attorney with extensive experience in Superior Court System. I was lucky and blessed to have her represent me and I needed to write her a review to let her know just how much I appreciated her time and effort to my individual case.

My roommate and I, two senior ladies, quietly shared an apartment in Port Orchard for four years. When we moved, we left the apartment structurally sound and professionally-clean. We were shocked the landlords sent us a move-out $1,500 bill for replacing the carpet plus other sundry charges…. due in two weeks! So, we asked GSJones landlord tenant attorney, Sara Humphries to represent us right away. She was awesome. She got the apartment complex to replace the carpet themselves; they dropped all other charges and, refunded a small amount too. We were sooo relieved and happy. I know other tenants have landlord trouble. They need legal representation. I highly recommend G. S. Jones .They do fight for you! That I know for sure!!

I'm extremely pleased with the effort Mr. Tyner has put into my case. It's obvious he genuinely cares about his clients. That's pretty rare for a court appointed attorney. I have been convinced he is working with and for me me and that he isn't simply going through the motions, trying to get me to sign their first offer. He inquired about the circumstances surrounding my cases, listened, and made a proactive plan of action. I'd hire him privately. He is an excellent attorney and whoever gets him as their court appointed attorney is extremely fortunate.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Port Orchard, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
