If are in legal trouble, I BEG you to stop worrying and searching, and contact Glisson & Morris. This is a REAL review, and Glisson & Morris reviews are not oddly similiar, like other lawyers, such as the similiar use of punctuation in their reviews. I spoke to so many lawyers trying to find someone I could trust, and was reasonably priced. Many other lawyers tried to scare me into hiring them, gave bad advice, or discussed money very early on. Once I talked to Stan, I immediately noticed his knowledge was FAR superior, and his calm honesty was reassuring. He knew the time and day of my court date before I told him. He was already talking about reviewing police body cams on the first phone call! Stan is a former Deputy Prosecutor, and has even served as a temporary District Court Judge! Trust me, your getting alot of lawyer for your money and it's well worth it. He always kept me very informed and calm during my case, no matter how much I contacted him. The outcome of my case was amazingly good and beyond my expectation, and I can't thank Glisson and Morris enough. I told him I would leave a review as a thank you, but I honestly can't express in words how appreciative and glad I am that I hired him. Thank you so much Stan and God Bless You. I really hope you save your time, and sanity, and contact Glisson & Morris.

I was charged with my first (and hopefully last) DUI in 2023, and I needed someone to help me navigate the process. I chose Stan based on research I did online, and I'm happy to say I made a great choice. Stan started off by suggesting immediate steps I could take to start satisfying requirements he knew were forthcoming from the court. He then used my early start on those steps to negotiate a pretrial diversion agreement that was far better than what I thought I was facing at the outset. As long as I stay out of further trouble, I will plead guilty to negligent driving at the end of the diversion period. I do not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone facing a similar situation.

My roommate and I, two senior ladies, quietly shared an apartment in Port Orchard for four years. When we moved, we left the apartment structurally sound and professionally-clean. We were shocked the landlords sent us a move-out $1,500 bill for replacing the carpet plus other sundry charges…. due in two weeks! So, we asked GSJones landlord tenant attorney, Sara Humphries to represent us right away. She was awesome. She got the apartment complex to replace the carpet themselves; they dropped all other charges and, refunded a small amount too. We were sooo relieved and happy. I know other tenants have landlord trouble. They need legal representation. I highly recommend G. S. Jones .They do fight for you! That I know for sure!!

I'm extremely pleased with the effort Mr. Tyner has put into my case. It's obvious he genuinely cares about his clients. That's pretty rare for a court appointed attorney. I have been convinced he is working with and for me me and that he isn't simply going through the motions, trying to get me to sign their first offer. He inquired about the circumstances surrounding my cases, listened, and made a proactive plan of action. I'd hire him privately. He is an excellent attorney and whoever gets him as their court appointed attorney is extremely fortunate.

Mr. Holyoak was the only attorney who personally called me the day of my reaching out concerning a time-sensitive consultation. He scheduled an appointment first thing the next day, where he was helpful and efficient helping me understand my position. He was judicious with my time and money.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Port Orchard, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
