Waited until the last moment to complete what she was being paid for. Egotistical, entitled persona. There isn't a soul behind that phony smile.

I had found out about Shashi from the Avvo reviews, and reached out to her for a real estate related help. She simply works magic by comforting her clients to know of what the worst case scenario looks like. In this process, she immediately alleviates the pain that anyone would normally have as they get into situations requiring an attorney's help. I feel that sometimes the mere imagination of the worst case scenario gets us into bad resolutions and this is exactly where a great attorney like Shashi comes to help by giving you a more realistic picture of the impact spectrum.

I discovered Mr. Leavitt while researching for my own case and was thoroughly impressed by his superb response brief in a CR60 appeal. Deciding to hire him for my own CR60 motion was one of the best decisions I've made. From my first visit, I was warmly welcomed by his professional team, including Shannon and Melodie, his knowledgeable paralegal. Mr. Leavitt’s depth of legal expertise, particularly in cases involving domestic violence, is extraordinary. He is a true advocate for victims and fiercely protects the best interests of children. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking top-tier legal representation in both King and Snohomish counties.

Honest, Reliable, and Efficient I hired Kris to help me get full custody of my children. I was just about 1-year into a divorce which included a parenting plan requiring 50/50 custody with my ex and a child support order that had me paying each month. My ex had essentially abandoned the children and her obligation but I was stuck with the court orders, thus stuck with paying child support and not having any closure for the children. It was an incredibly stressful situation and Kris was on top of things from day 1. I could write a 10-page review about all that went on but I’ll summarize by saying he achieved the outcome I was looking for. Furthermore, he secured temporary orders, almost immediately after taking my case, which provided my family with a tremendous amount of relief during the rest of the court proceedings. Prior to meeting with Kris I had talked with several other attorneys. I had a lot of legal experience having handled my own divorce pro se. I felt like most were just telling me what I wanted to hear and didn’t seem to care much about me. In a few cases I thought I would be better off representing myself. Kris was different. I hired him on the spot. He listened, he understood, and he explained things very clearly. He does not provide false hope. He explains strategies clearly and allows you to control the level of risk/reward you are comfortable taking. In my case he delivered exactly what we had talked about in our very first meeting. I felt confident in Kris’s representation. That’s huge when you’re going through any type of stressful case. I never worried that “the other team” would somehow get one over on him. They never did. There’s an office behind Kris and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention some of the other things that made my experience less stressful. Kris utilizes a paralegal to handle legal filings, documentation updates, and other activities around a legal case. Melody was assigned to my case and she was outstanding. Our filings were always on time or early, our responses were timely, and I never worried about missing a deadline or having anything fall through the cracks. Shay in the billing department was also very pleasant. Bills were clear and easy to understand. Bills arrive via email and so do receipts for payment. This made it simple to review, pay, and track my activity from my phone. The office itself is pleasant and peaceful and it feels very successful. I wouldn’t know if they have a voice mail system as my calls were always answered by a human and returned same day if Kris wasn’t available. Emails were also returned same day or early the next day if I sent one off in the late evening. Kris will definitely be my attorney should I ever require legal assistance in the future. I’m certain he could “duke it out in court” but his demeanor and professionalism secured my outcome without having to go there. He’s always focused on securing the outcome and he works very well with opposing council to achieve it.

Kristofer Leavitt is the absolute best attorney. I'm so incredibly thankful and grateful that I found Kris and that he's my attorney. I'm a small business owner and was served with a civil litigation lawsuit from an ex client. The lawsuit was not justified whatsoever. I had never been sued before and didn't know where to begin. Needless to say, I was petrified. I was completely inexperienced in legal protocol. I knew I had to get an attorney ASAP. I had consultations with several Las Vegas attorneys. Kris was the first one that I spoke with and the best one. In my initial consultation, Kris already had the complaint against me in front of him and began advising me. The other attorneys that I spoke with were inconsistent, not providing real advice, were charging an arm and a leg, were not sharp, and were out for their own good- this was obvious. The other attorneys did not care about what I was going through, but Kris did. Kris is ethical, sharp, and strategic and aggressive in legal initiatives; he's seriously the best. Kris has been my side the past 6 months, which have been some of the most gruesome in my life. I would not want any other attorney by my side except for him. Kris is dependable, reliable, quick, patient, thorough, and detail oriented. I knew from the first call with Kris that I would be able to count on him. Kris truly cares about his clients and he shows that. If you want an attorney that you can count on, that has your best interest in mind, and will fight for you, Kris is the attorney. If I have any future legal issues, Kris will be the attorney that I turn to. He is seriously hands down the best!!!! I would give him one million stars if I could!!!!

Regarding Tony Alfieri, After being referred to Toni Alfieri by a mutual acquaintance, I was impressed with Tony's approach to our initial meeting and my legal situation: a hit and run rear-ended car accident. Using his own personal time, he conveniently set up our first appointment for an interview to get acquainted with me. Having a great amount of personal knowledge regarding neck, shoulder, and back injuries and the pain involved, he was able to 'draw me a mental picture' of how to proceed with our legal case and what I could expect. Throughout our months of negotiations, Tony was completely 'up front' about every detail of every issue that I faced in dealing with the insurance companies involved. I felt very confident with his guidance and the advice he proposed as we went along. I knew he had my back and wanted the BEST for me in my final settlement. I was NOT disappointed! Tony and I developed a great camaraderie during our months of working together. To my challenger, he was a positive force to be reckoned with; to me he was the embodiment of coolness. Thank you, Tony, for a job well-done!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Redmond, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
