Before I've even started to type this, I have tears of thanks running down my face. From our very first conversation, Kristen assured me and reassured me over and over again that we would get through this nightmare together and that my daughter and I would be happy and safe. Despite my extreme anxiety and stressful breakdowns through the 2+ year case, she was patient, understanding and supportive. Being in a marriage where I was degraded and abused for years, left me with zero self esteem and no conidence at all. I believed every awful thing the ex told me...( he'd get full custody, I'd never see my daughter again, he'd put me in jail for kidnapping etc..) I can't even tell you how many terrified tears I cried in the beginning. Step by step, with Kristen in my corner, I started to feel more secure and confident that I had finally made the right choice by leaving. While my ex made this a LONG drawn out process, Kristen kept me in the loop and as calm as possible. Two years later, I'm back to the strong, confident, independent woman I was before my miserable marriage. I know that I am a great mom and I've made the best choices for my daughter and I. I went from daily anxiety/panic attacks in fear of losing my baby girl, to laughing at the absolute ridiculous nonsense that my ex used to terrify me with. The first great choice I'd made in years was hiring Kristen. Even when I wanted to give up, she wouldn't let me. Even when I was willing to settle for less than my daughter and I deserved, she wouldn't let me. She fought harder for me than I would've even fought for myself. And everything she encouraged me to fight for was absolutely correct. My daughter and I are living our best lives and are protected and worry free. My simple words of thanks will never be enough.

I lost custody of my then 5 year old daughter to her abusive father for 2 years. I appealed and won, but during those two years I had to do everything I could to fight for her safety and freedom. It was grueling and relentless. I reached out to many lawyers and professionals trying to find people to help but was often re-traumatized when they minimized or dismissed the abuse. When I had my first call with Kristen, I finally felt seen and heard. She listened to me with empathy and understanding, and I knew she would be in our corner the whole way. She knew the laws inside and out, made it very accessible for me to understand, and she was so smart in how she approached my very complex case. She helped secured better outcomes than I could've even imagined after such horrific experiences in family court. She was always responsive, prepared, and was an advocate for me and my daughter's safety first and foremost. I can't thank her enough for taking our case when many other's wouldn't or would've tried to downplay our experiences. She saved our lives. She helped give my daughter a second chance to regain her childhood. We have a final DVPO until her 18th birthday thanks to Kristen's advocacy for our safety. Getting referred to her was a complete turning point, and I will forever be grateful. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Hiring Kristen to represent me was the best choice I made during the difficult first days of separation, and now that my divorce is final I'm even happier with my decision. Through the whole process I had someone on my side who is smart and capable, and who I also liked talking to as a human being. She knows the ins and outs of WA family law. She gave me thorough and realistic advice. She respected that I wanted a low-conflict divorce, although if we'd gone to court I have no doubt she would have been a tough fighter. Her billing is honest and transparent so it actually worked out (relatively) affordable. I hope this is the last time I get divorced, but I'll be happy to work with Kristen for my future family law needs.

I had been divorced for 4 years but needed to negotiate post secondary education with my ex-husband. My original attorney was retired. Kristen made herself available to me on short notice and was a perfect match for what I was looking for. I was nervous and anxious. She was supportive and empathetic all the way with me and tough as nails with my ex and his attorney. The end result was that I got everything I asked for and MORE. Cannot recommend her strongly enough.

I hired Kristen almost 4 years ago now and have had to unfortunately use her most of those years, but have always felt well represented, as she has always fought for my rights as a Father. She will go up to bat for you, leverage the strong points of your case and I cannot say enough good things about how it has helped calm me down during the process and I've always felt in good hands going into court and non court proceedings. I highly recommend her services in Family Law Court and out of court proceedings as well.

My wife and I had Raemi update all of our estate planning documents (will, trusts, etc). It had been 10 years since we had seen a lawyer, so much had changed. She patiently explained all of our options, counseled us about changes in state and federal law, and gave us her opinion about what would work best for us. Her communication through email was timely and thorough, and her preparation of the documents was the same. She circled back around 2 months after completion of signing, just to check in and make sure that we were doing what we were supposed to be doing on our end. We will definitely use Raemi for all of our future estate planning needs.

Jeff Tuttle and all of his associates are truly the most helpful and respectful people to work with. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and their team helped take care of everything from the start to finish. Despite the whole case taking some time, throughout the whole process they were always giving updates and were willing to talk through the options. The most important aspects about working with Jeff is that 1. He makes sure to get the job done and to make his clients happy with his service 2. He ensures to articulate his words very carefully so that his clients can fully understand the scenario and outcomes 3. His good faith work ethic. I trust him to handle my future cases and I will come back to him if needed. Thanks Tuttle & Associates!

He is excellent with giving out information that all should know about retirement and the cost of healthcare. I as a physician learned how to not lose everything financially due to healthcare cost by the time I am 85. Unfortunately only 1 patient of all my Medicare patients has listened to the advice I gave to them from Mr. Tuttleā€™s radio talk 5-7 years ago. I always listened to his radio time replayed on Sunday as I headed down to the nursing home to see patients. How ironic!

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Redmond, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
