I had pleasure of consulting Suneet about injury due to MWA. He was out of law school for a year or so. He settled the case to my satisfaction. He is detail oriented and provided best service.

He’s not very flexible and resolving issues. In fact he doesn’t even like to go over the details or discuss the issues at all. He’s quick to go court.

I have worked with a few lawyers in my time, and have found most of them to be rude, incompetent, or incredibly overpriced. I was recommend Suneet through a friend, so I decided to give him a go and let him handle my bankruptcy case. The last few months have been horrible for me, so what I needed was a lawyer that knew what he was doing and could update me. I was incredibly pleased with Suneet, as he gave me everything I needed and more. He handled everything, and it was as though a huge weight was taken off my shoulders. I am very pleased with the level of service I got, his professionalism and knowledge stood out the most for me, and the whole time I hired him I wasn't worried about a thing. I would highly, highly recommend Suneet, as I wouldn't even consider using another lawyer for anything now. I can't thank you Suneet!

Lisa Voso is the most amazing attorney I have ever met (including my previous years of experience working as a legal secretary), and does not know the meaning of the words "no" or "can't". Lisa Voso was the answer to my prayers, settling my accident claim against all odds for a fair and just six figure amount. She efficiently, enthusiastically, and energetically fought for what she told me she believed was "Right". Because of her amazing skill and determination I was able to pay off all of my medical bills and debts incurred due to a 2005 automobile accident in which a driver talking on a cell phone struck me and changed my life forever. With the money left I will be able to afford care for the pain that I now will face for the rest of my life. At the time I had sought out a reputable law firm to assist me in filing a claim for injuries sustained in an auto accident, and found myself increasingly frustrated with the obstacles insurance companies place in front of people in order to prevent them from continuing to fight for a fair settlement. Over the years I began, unfortunately, to understand a legal judicial process that encourages clients to give in and settle for lesser amounts in order to avoid the long, stressful legal battles. Coping with the physical (and financial) pain can prove overwhelming. Has it not been for my incredible attorney, the burdens placed on myself and my family would have led me to give up and settle for the pitiful sum proposed by the powerful attorneys representing the insurance company of the person who had totalled my car in 2005. From the moment Lisa Voso took over my case at my law firm, results began to take place. As my attorney, Lisa Voso consistanty kept in touch with me, calling and encouraging me to continue to fight for justice, to keep having faith , reassuring me that she would not give up until she helped me to win a reasonable settlement. Because of her, my faith was restored in a legal system that previously had thwarted and stalled efforts to attain justice and a reasonable settlement for my medical bills, loss of work and income, necessary changes in career, daily pain, restriction of movement and mobility, and overwhelming lifestyle changes that occured as a result. Lisa Voso told me she believed a six figure settlment was the only outcome she would accept. Like David facing down Goliath, this petite powerhouse informed opposing counsel and insurance company employees that she would not give in until they offered a settlement that was fair and just. Unrelenting positivity, knowledge of the law, and tireless dogged determination ultimately led to the six figure settlement she so confidently told me she would attain for me. I will always appreciate how hard she worked. She gave me my life back, and I will always appreciate her hard work. Lisa Voso is an inspiration, and stands as an example to all other attorneys, and I thank her for everything!!!

My wife and I first became clients of Lisa Voso when my wife was in a serious auto accident that required spine surgery. We had retained another attorney who was not performing to our satisfaction. To say Lisa was different is an understatement. She came to our home, got us all on the same page and never stopped from there. She did what she said she was going to do, when she said it would be done and kept us informed throughout the whole litigation process. There was never a phone call that was not returned and never correspondence that we were not copied on. She stood toe to toe with me which is never an easy process. Lisa Voso is perhaps the finest attorney and person I have ever met. She is the polar opposite of what most people think attorneys are. I trust her judgment in any situation and would give her my highest endorsement. She says what she means and means what she says.

We approached one of the largest firms in the country to do our patent filing as a start-up because we did not want to waste precious time and resources on educating the attorneys on our industry or on our technology. We found the perfect match in John Tolomei and the team at Perkins Coie. After only a couple "brain dump" sessions, John was able to formulate a comprehensive outline of what our patent would look like from start to finish. As a start-up, we assumed that we were at the bottom of the food chain when it came to getting our patents filed before the U.S. patent law was switching to a "first to file" system. John was assigned to our patent filing case and truly made it his own project. He worked with us at our convenience and did not settle for "good enough". He was very open to suggestion and also great at conveying technical information in an understandable way. John was diligent about keeping us in the loop and informed about the patent process. With patents, filing is only the beginning. We look forward to continuing our relationship with John throughout the next steps.

Gary represented our company in an issue where our ex landlord was trying to hit us with absurd damage charges on our previous building. He was very helpful and responsive. He also represented us when reviewing a purchase agreement for a commercial real estate property. He's a nice guy, he is thorough and responsive, and his fees are reasonable.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Renton, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
