I wouldn't write this, but I hope that somehow my review will help others. Williams is not an attorney you want on your case because he simply doesn't care. One thing he’s really great at is billing hours so if you are looking to part ways with your hard earned dollars, he’s your guy...for everyone else an honest word of advice - stay away. Summary: incompetent and will not fight for you. After almost 2 months on the case unable to comprehend simple facts while still charging huge amounts of money to review documents. He took over the case and lost motion after motion while always having an excuse why things didn’t work out. I've never received advice that I can say was solid and worth anything other than costing me money. He asked for a $5k retainer when we had an initial consultation. One week later he asked for another $20k stating that either I paid him, or he would withdraw from the case knowing very well that a pretty important court hearing was coming up. In our initial chat I stated clearly that the case was filled with drama but to get me in he figured $5k is enough just to then ask for additional $20k knowing very well that I had no time to look for another attorney. He took a case which was in great shape and lost 2 motions in a matter of weeks, destroyed the case while at the same time billing me over $13k. The saddest thing is that he always had an excuse and just did NOT give a thing of what was happening if he could bill the hours. When I say he DIDN'T CARE, I really DO Mean it. After I hired another attorney, he had the audacity to ask me for $700 retained from my original deposit claiming that he'll need to keep this amount in case there will be a need to help transition my case? No other attorney ever does that, and I have talked to at least a few. Transition...? there was the guy who after more than 7 weeks on the case had no clue what was going on. Did not bother to speak with previous counselor I had (who sadly I had to let go because I couldn't afford him). Only after I pointed out to the engagement agreement that clearly stated that the retainer is fully refundable he agreed to refund whatever was left from the $25k retainer. I would suggest not hiring this attorney.

Walt helped me through one of the toughest experiences of my lifetime and I am eternally grateful. It was a very difficult situation for all involved. I was very emotional and he always talked very straight to me and helped me stay focused. It took time and diligence as most of these situations unfortunately do but we prevailed. I get to watch my son grow up in a much healthier environment because of it. I never felt he overcharged me, I felt his pricing was very fair and he tried to keep my costs down. He is a very caring lawyer. I have recommended Walt many times and will continue to.

Ill prepared seemed clueless about my case despite it all being given all the paperwork and detail even charged me to obtain copy's of a parenting plan he was given at our first meeting and even went to make copy's of.. So i payed $3000 for him to basically do less then I could have accomplished on my own. I felt I was a low priority and someone he could placate to get easy money.

I saw Mr. Williams twice in a legal clinic that he so graciously volunteered in to consult with him about getting a temporary family order after a near 5-year marriage involving DVPO, financial exploitation, and my husband's elaborate scheme to fake unemployment to reduce and avoid support payments, taxes, and other debts while enjoying a very high paying career. I came out of this marriage with my life savings and everything drained out of me and was left destitute with 2 young children with no family in this country. I've talked to 5-6 attorneys all telling me it's rather hopeless to expect any level of financial recovery or transitional support despite years of terrible financial abuse by my husband in my "short term marriage" of near 5 years (instead of 10+ years that's often required for spousal maintenance support to be considered). Mr. Williams was the only attorney who had a positive attitude and gave me hope, confidence, and the know-how to file a motion for temporary spousal maintenance pro se. His valuable insights, excellent communication skills, detail-oriented nature, friendliness, solid experience and expertise made him an outstanding attorney that I would recommend to anyone, especially if you have been interviewing many attorneys and still searching for someone with the right combination of skills that make for an effective and successful attorney. Against all odds, because of Mr. Williams, I achieved very positive results in what all other attorneys (including attorneys with over 20, 30 years of experience) have thought to be a hopeless case. It was outstanding enough that 2 attorneys came up to me after my hearing just to tell me how very well I'd done especially doing it pro se. I give all my thanks to Mr. Williams valuable guidance and encouragement as he has made a meaningful difference that helped me and my 2 young children in our transitioning in such a difficult time. I consider Mr. Williams a valuable asset not only to his clients, his law firm, but to the community that he so kindly gives back to.

Walt represented me for my divorce proceedings from 11/2015-3/2017. Before hiring an attorney for what I knew would be a very contentious process, I interviewed several over a period of 4-5 years. I ultimately chose Walt because he was the only one who I felt had truly listened to me and understood what I needed from an attorney. The process was long, I had never been through something like this and the whole thing was confusing...it included protection orders, family services investigations and other sensitive matters. Going through all of that was very stressful. Walt was right there to answer questions, was accessible and sensitive to my feelings but also blunt when it was necessary. The divorce went to trial, Walt was extremely prepared, focused and truly immersed himself in my case. I never felt as if his mind was elsewhere. The outcome was very favorable and I feel that is due to Walt's preparation and focus. On a side note, Walt's paralegal Suzette was amazing! She really helped me to stay grounded and trust my gut whenever I questioned myself during this process. Whenever I got seemingly bad news she would anticipate my phone call, remind me of the reasons I was doing this and generally helped me feel better through the process. I have already recommended Walt to others who are looking for a family law attorney and will continue to recommend him as long as he is practicing law.

I hired Walt for my divorce case in 2013. He was a great lawyer to have on my side. He was very logical and stayed extremely fair throughout the entire process. He told me when he felt I had a case and was honest with me when he felt there wasn't any leg to stand on. Unfortunately my ex had a lawyer who would come after everything and anything. We eventually lost out to her tenacity. If you have an ex who isn't petty and you want a realistic lawyer who knows his stuff and won't over charge you for things, Walt is your guy. If you need to go to war with your ex and they are like a bloodhound, I would recommend you look somewhere else.

From start to finish, Walter was the best person to handle my situation. I couldn't have done it w/o him. He is professional, reliable, patient, and quick to respond. His work is outstanding and was very thorough about the process. Thanks Walt!

This attorney withdrew from my case, weeks after I retained him, without the decency of waiting for me to secure a new attorney. He left me without legal representation at a crucial point in my divorce, citing untimely payments to him and further, his disagreement with my decisions as reasons for his withdrawl. I tried to reach out to him and the principal attorney at the Engel Law Group, only to be chided in an email that these efforts were perceived as circumventing the this lawyer thus, no one at the law firm would return my calls. He also failed to protect me from preventing the same judge (in a recent dependency matter) preside in my divorce, showing his unfamiliarity with the court procedural processes, by failing to file a motion to excuse the judge before he made a ruling in my divorce. I had expected a new judge in divorce, so I could appeal dependency decisions; however this attorney failed to protect my rights, deciding to focus on his payment instead.

A great mediator who knows the law and can negotiate a peaceful solution to anything. He got the other party to stop causing me trouble. I had another lawyer who dropped the ball. Mr. Williams never gave up. He's like the nicest pit bull ever.

My attorney recommended Walt and I retained him on faith of that recommendation alone. Unfortunately, Walt has a paternalistic style in espousing how he surmises one's case should be represented and is hesitant in getting to know a parent and the emotional trauma he or she is experiencing. Walt isn't empathetic to the plight of parents fighting for custody in a dissolution proceeding. He simply failed to connect with me. To give Walt the benefit of the doubt... he has yet to develop a body of experience in this most sensitive of legal fields, however in time I expect that will change. Best of luck Walt!

Walt agreed to take my family law case in the middle of a difficult legal situation and immediately took control in a professional manner. In discussions with the opposing party, and in court, he has a calm demeanor and deep legal knowledge, a combination that instills confidence.

He does all the work himself and knows every detail of the case, His staff members are very responsive as well to connect and update you, He charged almost half of the hourly rate of our last lawyer. In over a year, he has not disappointed us and has continued to get us help and protect us from injustice.
