I had not one but two USERRA cases with Frontier Airlines the first one came out a draw. The second one setteled with the help of Thomas and Matt Crotty. They work as the A team on USERRA cases. I was successful the second go around due to hiring Thomas Jarrard. He will win for you!

I appreciate the passion, patience, and prompt attention my particular case received. My attorney, Thomas Jarrard was outstanding; he really showed full dedication towards getting me a quick and positive outcome on my case. He provided me with a sense of confidence after the Global law firm I previously worked at assigned a Partner in an attempt to deny me of my rights under USERRA. Thomas Jerrard is extremely knowledgeable, and reached a resolution, after a single phone call to said Partner at old firm, which ended in my favor and without needing to endure a trial. I would recommend anyone to this law firm and trust Mr. Jerrard and his team can handle any case or situation with total satisfaction.

If you are in the military/veteran having employment issues related to your service aka USERRA law violations then look no further—Thomas is the lawyer for you. Thomas is in a league of his own. He is talented, hardworking and an exceptional lawyer. He is extremely knowledgeable, candid, and efficient in his work. Thomas is an expert in USERRA laws, and get results quickly. Thomas immediately provided me with relief that I would receive a just outcome in my case; and outlined all the issues/case laws and claims they would proceed on. I already knew after my first ZOOM call interaction with him that I had secured a winning team. Thomas wins his cases, because he knows what he’s doing, and how to get it done. Thomas was responsive and throughout while handling my case. I am grateful for the times I would call him, and he could sense the urgency and anxiousness in my tone; and would immediately start sending out emails to get answers to my questions. Thomas gave me the confidence I needed that my case would be in good hands as I left for active duty orders — and he exceeded those expectations. Thanks to Thomas I was able to get a resolution beyond my wildest imagination before even returning home! I am forever grateful and indebted to Thomas for his help. This isn’t Allstate, but you’re definitely in good hands with Thomas. Thank you Thomas not only for your service to this country, but your continued service in representing military service members. You are appreciated.

Mr. Jarrard fought for my USERRA rights from beginning to end, taking on a powerful and well-financed opponent. Mr. Jarrard was diligent, thorough, and at every legal turn, he knew the law better than the employer's lawyers. In the end, we were successful, and my employer was held accountable. If you want to win your case, go with Mr. Jarrard.

After a lengthy property dispute and a favorable decision our opponent appealed the trial courts decision. When our trial attorney was very reluctant to take the appeal for his lack of experience we searched the web and found Thomas at the top of the AVVO list for appeals attorneys. I e-mailed Thomas a short story and within a couple of hours Thomas responded by phone. We visited for at least 1 1/2 hrs when he agreed to travel 150 miles and research our case in the Okanogan Superior Court before he would agree to take our case. He told us that he wouldn't take a case he couldn't win. We felt very blessed and secure when Thomas took our case. He is a no-nonsense guy. Up front and candid on every aspect. Extremely professional and knowledgeable of appellate law and has a terrific report with the appellate administration. He respects our opinion, allows participation to save money and he's easy to talk to and understand. Thomas got our appeal denied through lack of merit simply because he knows his job. Thomas is genuine, ethical, and very competent. He gives lawyers a good name.

Tricia Usab was extremely helpful and knowledgible in creating our Will. She went above and beyond our expectations to help us create our Will and it is reassuring that our children will be ok, should anything happen to us.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Spokane, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
