If you're looking for a lawyer to speak to you with compassion and understanding during what is likely a very stressful time in your life, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. If you're looking for aggressive representation and an advocate who genuinely has your best interests at heart, this is not the place for you. You deserve a lawyer who will treat you with respect and fight for your interests.

Mark was informative and helpful throughout the process. He always returned my calls and emails promptly. He made sure things were done correctly and efficiently and did not waste my time or overcharge me. He knows how to get to the heart of the matter. I also felt he treated my ex with respect. His staff was kind and professional, especially Rosalind his paralegal that was involved. Mark has a toughness and expertise combined with empathy that make me want to tell you that he is an excellent choice to represent you.

I missed a court date that his office never notified me about. He was unprepared for hearings and said he had other cases going. That cost me $1,500 In her attorney fees. He never sent the $23,000 check back. That cost me another $1,500 in attorney fees. I had to search the court docket and notify him of this court date. He apologized for not sending the check back and said he’d make it right. When I told him he could cover the fees and not charge me his, he filed to remove himself as counsel. Gave the wrong email address so I was not notified. I had to see it searching to see if I had anymore court dates.

Like the majority of family law attorneys Mark is completely useless, especially if you are a father! He doesn't care about the importance of the child father relationship, all he cares about is making as much money as he can!

I chose MDH to represent my case without knowing or understanding much of how family law works. After a long year and a half of several court hearings that led to trial, and learning along the way the complex process of litigation, I realize that I got very lucky when I picked MDH, and I am incredibly grateful that Mark was the one guiding me step by step through a tremendously stressful time. Mark is highly intuitive, professional, pays close attention to details, very responsive to calls and emails, and was extremely invested in everything he did for my case. He is honest and caring, with a high level of integrity, and was committed to doing all the things necessary within his reach to protect both me and my kids, from a very unhealthy situation. Post trial, my case continues to go back to court for additional hearings, and sadly looks like there is still a long road ahead. Called Mark Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. He got us in that Friday the day after Thanksgiving. We decided to hire him and he made the time to start the process of paperwork that Sunday. It was great he did this so my wife and I didn’t have to miss work and our case was a time sensitive issue. The few times I’ve had to emailed him he seem to get right back to us with answers.

A few weeks ago, I had a child support case not go in my favor. I met with Mark for a free consultation. I asked him for a honest, "cost-benefit" analysis to help me decide if I should hire him. He did. I didn't hire him (cost concerns) but he gave me step-by-step instructions of how to proceed. I appreciated his candor and the good advice he gave me.

Mark Hodgson processed my case. Eventually, I realized that Mark had only a layman's understanding of the case, the WA State RCW's or any case law pertaining to it. During the hearing Mark was tactfully informed by the Commissioner that he was arguing for relief that was clearly disallowed per the information provided the court and specific RCW laws. Mark was shocked! The commissioner asked Mark, if his client would be willing to adjust the petition to qualify for a different judgment. Of course, Mark answered in the affirmative. At this point, Mark was unable to produce the documentation to augment the correct order that was awarded by the commissioner (I had just handed this to him, prior to entering court). The commissioner issued the order regardless. Oh yes, there was also one other incredibly and infuriating transgression by Mr. Hodgson. Unbelievably, two days before our first hearing date, Mark Hodgson had previously struck the case without my permission, prematurely in error, thereby requiring me to delay for another hearing. Finally, Mark not only stumble-bumbled this case, but I had to hire another attorney to correctly finish the paper work created by his staff that was required before I could qualify for the judgement ordered by the commissioner. This warning is not submitted in anger. These claims are all verifiable from the transcripts of this hearing that I have on file. My desire is to inform any other potential clients of this office of the incompetence of Mark Hodgson.

Mark Hodgson is incredible. I came to him at a huge deficit, already losing badly, he assessed, did damage control, got me back to zero and then put me in a winning position. I literally got everything I wanted, low and short spousal support, amazing custody especially for a state that heavily favors the moms. Mark doesn’t play games, over charge or b.s. he is attentive, skilled in and out of the courtroom, not intimidated by other lawyers, he did things that I did not even think would be possible. By the end, opposing party was defeated and they knew it. Things wrapped up sooner than expected. His staff, co workers, and office crew is all top notch. In my reviews I always try to highlight the good and the bad, however there was no bad to be found with Mark.
