I was a party to a lawsuit against the state of Washington, DSHS, Children's Adminjistration, relating to issues impacting Native American social workers. These issues were longstanding systemic and discriminatory mistreatment which resulted in disparate and negative outcomes for Indian social workers and the Indian families and children assigned to them. The problems caused by this disparate mistreatment manifested in inequitable caseload assignments for Indian social workers resulting in poorer outcomes for Indian children and families. With the assistance of Matt Albrecht and his partner, George Ahrend, and after 7 days of trial which ended in a mistrial caused by the state's counsel, we were able to negotiate a successful settlement. Matt and George were committed, conscientious, and tenacious against a very large agency with a long history of obfuscation and delaying tactics. I have and will contintue to recommend Matt and George to others experiencing employment discrimination.
