Hiring Erik as my divorce attorney was the best decision I made for my divorce.
As a cardiologist, my mindset was that I must protect what is mine and fight to win. I initially hired the most expensive high end attorney and law firm in Tacoma, and it was a disaster. I successfully wasted money, probably close to $50,000 to $100,000 and got no where.
My ex-wife hired a sleaze ball attorney that would do anything to drain more lawyers fees out of me to pay his fee.
While my first attorney didn’t do anything unethical, but he was unable to manage my case in a manner that would be in my best interest long term. He was also impossible to reach, and I felt like my case was not a priority. When I asked to mediate, he came up with reasons not to “give up.” Finally, and most importantly, he could not provide an accurate forecast of how my divorce was going to go.
My divorce was an expensive mess and the best thing that happened to me is my attorney fired me. Let’s just say I let him know how unhappy I was with the amount I was spending.
So I hired Erik, solo attorney, no big law firm. I just wanted out of my divorce. Erik was not only significantly less expensive than my previous attorney, but he was more experienced and consciences about the particulars of my case. He spent a significant amount of time (which he did NOT bill) to explain why my divorce put me at risk longterm and that I needed to settle and mediate. Erik was able to provide a forecast of My divorce and it was spot on. He cleaned up my case. He got me out of contempt (another screw up from my first attorney), provided expert personal guidance, and negotiated a settlement in my favor (well relative favor) with my ex-wife’s sleaze ball attorney to get me divorced quickly.
Erik isn’t flashy and doesn’t have a website with a bunch of Pizazz. He isn’t trying to please his buddies or court judges during trial. He is to the point, honest, get the job done the way it should be in the clients best interest. No BS. ”This is how it is,” “this is what we want to avoid for your case,” let’s get you divorced and on with your life.”
I never want to get divorced again and I don’t wish it upon anyone, but if you are a soon to be ex-husband, go with Erik.

I would recommend Sophia to anyone needing a divorce attorney. She is extremely knowledgeable about the law, professional, and responsive. She is a good listener who will work hard to get the best outcome for you. She is also very honest and up front about your case and doesn’t just tell you want you want to hear. Her demeanor is such that she makes a difficult and sometimes stressful process less so.

Kathryn is an excellent attorney; I highly recommend her. I retained her to assist in an interstate custody/support case that would have been difficult to handle had I not had her assistance. She always gave me the guidance that I needed to hear. I must say, Kathryn, made this process extremely easy. I do not live in Washington, but she always made her self available, either by phone or email. She was extremely quick to respond to my queries, and she also worked to get this case wrapped up as soon as possible. My main desire was to get to an agreeable conclusion with my Ex and to do it in the quickest fashion possible. Kathryn understood my wishes and worked diligently to bring them to fruition.
I would recommend Kathryn with zero hesitation, and I will certainly retain her again should the need ever arise.

I hired Kathryn to come into my custody case when I had already fallen down a pretty deep hole previously due to not having counsel. That being said she went above and beyond anything I could have expected in an attorney. She fought hard for me and the outcome was better than I hoped for.
From the beginning, she was very conscious of my financial means. She always advised me of my options, but also of the financial toll each would take. She was upfront and fair with her costs, and I never felt she was "nickle and diming" me as I have heard other lawyers tend to do.
Kathryn is prompt and thorough not only in court-related matters but also in my personal questions and concerns. She kept me up to date on what was happening without me having to ask. I knew when I was expected in court as soon as she did. Her explanation of the process and the paperwork always made me feel like I had a good handle on everything and I never felt left in the dark. Kathryn is professional, well put together, and kind. She fought hard for me and my interests in court and gave great advice outside of the courtroom. I cannot say enough good things about her and how she handled my case. I recommend anyone looking for a custody attorney to have a consultation with Kathryn. She will blow you away.

Kathryn is the 4th attorney I went through on my long custody case. The others were too busy to give personal attention and/or lacked a genuine interest in the wellbeing of my young child. I wish I’d known how to better screen for a good fit earlier on. Then in game Kathryn who brought peace of mind, clarity to the bottom line issues, kindness, professionalism, superb communication, and straight talk about what my best course of action/realistic outcomes were. At first I was somewhat hesitant to hire someone with not a ton of public reviews posted and who was newer to Washington, but SO glad I did the consult in person where I quickly felt like it was a good fit. As soon as she took over the case, it started to have movement in the right direction. It was such a blessing to know I could sit back and trust her to be on top of everything in a timely, detailed manner. And, she was always keeping an eye on how to keep my costs down. Now, my case is settled and I think both sides are content with the compromises made. Can’t thank her enough and would highly recommend her in any custody disputes!

I will not recommend Eric. Eric took my case almost as if he knew that he had a good record with reviews. My reason of why I do not recommend him are the following.
Money: every lawyer seems to just want the money to take your case instead of giving you a good assessment of the case.
Knowledge: Eric took my money on my case, not knowing the current changes on military retirement and spousal entitlements. Plainly and simply complained to me about fighting for me. His sentiment almost seem as if he was fighting for the ex spouse.
He made me do work on the timeline in which I was in the army with changes to my pay, which I did because he seemed incompetent. After I did that work, he still failed at resourcing the information necessary to fight my case.
Ultimately, the apparent judgement was lame, Eric did not fight and will always come back to you stating that "it is fair to do". Not " I will fight for you". I would take my chances with anyone else who has better resources in the subject.
Eric needs to brush up on the current changes to the subject of Military divorce and retirement entitlements to the spouse. He needs to brush up on the timelines and pay and how it effects the outcomes. He needs to brush up on the verbiage accepted by the DFAS.
My opinion, is that fellow soldiers spend alot of time deployed and away from home to fight for the country, at the end you pay out on a spouse that under washington state courts, they have a right to have a relationship if your married and deployed. Hire a lawyer that opposes that view.

Katherine s a true professional attorney. I am a newly retired US Army service member of 25 years going through a complex child custody issue for my son. Katherine listened, studied and accepted my case. She realistically managed my expectations and strategically and promptly guided me through this difficult process. Long story short I now have custody of my son. Katherine does what she says she is going to do, she is well versed always on time and prepared for any situation the other side may present. I will also note that despite her busy caseload she and her staff made me feel as if I was the only case she had! Her enthusiasm was always infectious and optimistic. She always made me feel that I was in charge and as she advised me of the pros and cons at each decision point through the trial process. I can never thank Katherine enough for her professionalism, respect, tireless work ethic and expertise in family law. I highly recommend her as representation for anyone seeking Family law assistance.

I absolutely must, have to recommend Attorney Erik to you or to any one who is dealing with the divorce. I know and understand how painful, stressful, and ugly the divorce process can be, especially when assets and children involved. I was there.
Erik has a great work ethic. He cares a great deal about his clients. He has a very calm and caring demeanor and he gets directly to the point.
He definitely is the person who not only will walk you through every step, but will also help to take away your stress and lead you to a better and brighter quality life after your dissolution.
