I couldn’t be more pleased with the way Michael Clark and his incredible team handled my case. From start to finish, he made the process smooth and stress-free, allowing me to place full trust in his expertise. He was meticulous in detailing every step of the procedure, ensuring I was well-informed and comfortable with the direction we were taking. His commitment to my well-being extended beyond the legal aspects—he helped me find the right answers to my physical concerns and guided me toward appropriate medical treatment for my injuries. His promptness in returning my calls and addressing any questions I had was truly reassuring. I’m extremely satisfied with the outcome and highly recommend his services to anyone seeking a dedicated, kind hearted and knowledgeable attorney.

Michael Clark and Kristen were lifesavers after I was severely injured in a hit and run auto accident. Mr. Clark came highly recommended by more than one person who worked within the legal system and he did not disappoint. I was in a care center for seventy two days with a broken shoulder, ribs and two broken ankles. I wasn’t allowed to bear weight in order to start my rehab journey to walk again for the first 6 weeks. During this challenging time, I never worried about medical bills or dealing with auto insurance etc. Mr. Clark and his staff took care of all the negotiations with the insurance companies so I could focus on healing. I felt very comfortable contacting Michael’s office for any questions I had. They were prompt, caring and compassionate. I would highly recommend the Law Office of Michael Clark Injury Attorney.

This attorney's communication skills are greatly lacking. From the start, we were not informed that my mom signed a lien on her car insurance claim for all of her chiropractor visits. She was under the impression that her health insurance would be billed first and than the bill would be submitted via arbitration to the insurance claim. When my mom had her deposition, the process via zoom was not explained well enough and she was almost 20 minutes late to her appointment. After this issue, my mom was extremely distraught and since we had an acceptable settlement that we were done. Mr Clark still emailed several more times asking if we wanted to get more of a settlement. At the end of our association with this law office, we were never told that the arbitration was canceled, since we had settled. My 77 year old mom should not have been put through this lack of communication. Communication is far too important in this world we live in.

In the past 20-some years Bob has represented me 4 times. Twice he defended me against criminal charges, and twice was my advocate for injury claims. He was at all times most personable a friendly and always explained the realities of my situation and made sure that I understood what was going on. In all cases he obtained favorable results. His fees for criminal defense were less than what other lawyers quoted me and yet he went full out on my behalf as if I was his only client. (He is a sole practitioner and is sometimes very very busy.) Once he was too busy to take a case from me and referred me to another lawyer who handled my case with high competence and who obtained a great result for my claim. In addition to criminal defense and personal injury work, Bob has assisted my brother, (who is a musician), with some entertainment contracts and is well versed in entertainment law. There are truly not enough stars to rate how helpful Bob is!

My attorney was extremely helpful and considerate. She was flexible with her times to be able to contact me after work. And then did the impossible for me and got my case dismissed! Nothing but good things from these people ! :)

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tacoma, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
