From the consultation it was clear that Lindsey was not only highly capable and incredibly knowledgeable, but that she was going to fight for ME. She was easy to communicate with, and the entire team was very helpful through the whole process. We ended up getting the results we wanted and I could not be more pleased with her work.

Lindsey was fantastic. I started out trying to do the whole agreement myself and she gave me tons of guidance before I even decided to hire her. Once I realized the asset pieces were over my head, and I needed a professional, she and the team at Bliss made everything so easy for me. We were divorced in exactly 91 days and we were able to divide everything smoothly and quickly. I can’t imagine a better divorce (weird thing to say, I know) and Lindsey made sure all the legal items were as smooth as could be.

From the moment I reached out to Bliss Law Group, I felt genuinely cared for in all my interactions. Whether it was the legal intake team, Attorney Rogers Paralegal Ashley and of course Attorney Rogers herself, I continually felt supported. She is caring but Attorney Rogers is also a highly skilled attorney. The commissioner in my hearing even stated as much. My initial consultation with her was very thorough and she laid out a plan from the get-go. I could tell she would be well prepared if I ended up with her as my counsel. I didn't realize how fortunate I was to find her at the time. Over the course of the next month, as she was helping me fight a DVPO brought against me, she was responsive, always answered any questions I had in a timely matter and helped guide me through the process. This was the first time in my life I had had to hire a lawyer and I am so grateful it was her. The DVPO ended up getting dismissed in full. On top of that, because my declaration, supporting documents and Attorrney Rogers arguments at the hearing were so well done, the commissioner was able to see through the lies and was even able to recognize how my SO was using manipulative and coercive techniques as part of his case. I highly recommend Attorney Rogers!

I spoke with many lawyers to start this process. I thought I had found the right team to help navigate me through one of the most difficult processes of my life. Eventually I was met with the horrible truth that I made the wrong decision. Terrified, I scrambled to searching for a new legal team. Immediately when I spoke with one of the Bliss team members named Sarah, I was met with compassion, urgency and professionalism. To be thorough I met with a few other lawyers but before even speaking with Lindsay Rogers, I could tell from her representative where I should be. Lindsey is smart, stern, can pivot and adapt to the unexpected, highly professional and watching her in action was treat. She immediately stepped in with a plan, gave Me comfort in the steps ahead of us and honestly listened in a way that allowed her to hear the unsaid in my story. Every step of the way I was told it couldn’t be done before speaking with her and her amazing team. Literally every step of the way, from friends, family, lawyers to even social workers. All claiming in Washington state a Father will never receive custody of their child and that the courts would ALWAYS side with the mother and even give her the chance to correct her mistakes. Everyone except Lindsey and her team. They supported me in a way that was unexpected and for that along with doing the “impossible” in slaying Goliath, I have so much gratitude. There is still more ahead but I feel confident in my team, her skills and the competent team that Ms Rogers surrounded herself with. They provide the type of service that the dollar can’t buy. On the silver screen they call in super heros in tights to come save the day…but in the real world, they are much more inconspicuous. I highly suggest you contact Lindsey when you feel the world around you crumbling. We all deserve a little Bliss during trying times. Thank you all.

In the past 20-some years Bob has represented me 4 times. Twice he defended me against criminal charges, and twice was my advocate for injury claims. He was at all times most personable a friendly and always explained the realities of my situation and made sure that I understood what was going on. In all cases he obtained favorable results. His fees for criminal defense were less than what other lawyers quoted me and yet he went full out on my behalf as if I was his only client. (He is a sole practitioner and is sometimes very very busy.) Once he was too busy to take a case from me and referred me to another lawyer who handled my case with high competence and who obtained a great result for my claim. In addition to criminal defense and personal injury work, Bob has assisted my brother, (who is a musician), with some entertainment contracts and is well versed in entertainment law. There are truly not enough stars to rate how helpful Bob is!

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Tacoma, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
