Miranda, Jonathan, and Noel are all amazing legal representatives and work as a team not only together, but with you as a client. We were at their mercy from across the country fighting for our rights and what is best for our family. Miranda took on our case within a 2 day notice, fought for us and with us until present day! Our only regret is that we can’t use her in TN, after her successful win for us. We had two other lawyers thru the yrs before this and felt unheard, often neglected, and over charged. Court is expensive no matter what… but with Baner and Baner we never regretted the fees due to the fight they fought, attention they paid, the outstanding service that went beyond the court room to even sharing tears thru the process. They are known as angels in our household who watched over us and still do to this day. We could be honest, even very blunt…and every word was heard. We were able to fight the best fight we could but maintain as much dignity throughout the process as one could have in a very difficult situation. We never had to depend on anything but the truth and the skill of the team at Baner and Baner. Miranda and Johnathan both appeared in court for us because if you hire one of them, you get both! Because they have each others backs if one cannot be present last minute, the other is there. Their paralegal Noel is another true asset to their team and was always available to help in any way and just as much a part of the team as the two of them! We will recommend them to any and everyone, and be grateful to them for eternity. Our case is not in open court at the moment; however we will always remain connected to them, and know that they will forever be a part of our story. Miranda told us that the reason they do this job is to fight for the ones that deserve it, and the little ones that it helps! And we can’t wait until our little one is grown and knows a little more of the story to understand… and we can all meet again and show Miranda what she fought for and how amazing it all turned out due to the care, attention, hours of work and dedication she put into our case! You cannot go wrong by trusting them with your life! Because it is your lives they fight for! And they truly are the best!

I was very pleased with Baner and Baner law firm. They were extremely pleasant to work with and without the help of this firm the business would have got away with taking money for no service rendered. Thank you so much for your assistance and support Baner and Baner. Robert

I have nothing but trust and respect for Miranda Baner - she has seen my family and I through some very hard times, and has continued to fight on my behalf. Over the last nearly 3 years, she has methodically helped me through various petitions with the family court. She has remained calm and professional despite difficult opposing counsel and challenging times in court. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone facing family court - whether for divorce or child custody. The words thank you will never be enough for the peace you have brought my family, Miranda!

I appreciate his dedication as assigned counsel. He extended his services when just letting the client fall through the cracks would have been far easier. Above and beyond.

Mr. Gorton came highly recommended by a mutual acquaintance after I was seriously injured in a multiple vehicle collision. I had been struggling to navigate the insurance morass for more than a year before discovering my injuries had not been correctly diagnosed following several visits to doctors and dozens of painful physical therapy sessions that were making some things worse. Once Mr. Gorton was on board, I was able to take a welcome break in not having to deal with this very confusing and frustrating issue as he took control of the case allowing me to focus on recovery. This gave me time and freedom to find a doctor who finally figured out underlying issues leading to multiple surgeries and more PT without the pressure from insurance companies to resolve the case quickly or continual questions about progress that seemed "too slow" for their company processes. Mr. Gorton's extensive legal experience and deep understanding of the insurance profession led to a positive outcome. He used several specialists to create medical, financial and historical reports in preparation for court, which ultimately convinced the at fault party's insurance carrier to wisely settle pre-trial. I appreciated his pace, counsel, reassurance and patience in dealing with court and insurance. His calm demeanor and tenacious advocacy were a huge plus. This case began well before Covid hit, continuing through many months of court closures and slowdowns. He was there for me and my family every step of the way.

Deola helped me with a very sensitive issue back in 2019. The help she gave me was priceless. I wasn't a business transaction for her and that made a huge difference. I have nothing but respect for the help she gave me and how she made me feel.

Ephraim Benjamin is an answered prayer for our family. The unfortunate fact that our justice system is completely broken is scary. Having someone in your corner who knows the system and fights on your behalf brings an enormous amount of peace.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of University Place, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
