I reached out to Roberto on a cold call to ask about appraisal and the Wenatchee-area economic landscape as someone out of the region, and we hit it off and ended up chatting—in which he was friendly, patient, and offered helpful insight. There's just something rare and invaluable about professionals who—right out of the gate—seem happy to help, and don't give off the vibe that they're in a premature hurry to get paid. I had such a good feeling about Roberto as a human being and an attorney that I hired him within 24 hours to advise on my principled departure with my then-employer. His legal help was thorough, clear, well presented, and helped me get the most out of my principled departure while staying true to my ethics of honesty, consideration, and self respect. Further, he helped me present myself in a way that helped things end amicably with my then-employer. I'd be happy to work with Roberto again. He's the kind of guy I'd be honored to hire or just grab a beer with and chat. A class act.

I contacted Roberto regarding a traffic infraction that I had received while in Chelan and he was able to help me through the process of what to do next. Living in Lynnwood, I understood that I would have to seek council in the Chelan/Wenatchee area if need be and my search led me to Mr. Castro. We spoke on the phone shortly after I reached out to his firm and we began going through what my best options were. He was able to answer all of my questions perfectly and was also able to provide information that I did not have. After suggesting to defer the ticket I began that process shortly after and ended up being granted the deferral by the judge. I was fortunate enough, through his advice, to save money on lawyer costs and still get my infraction deferred.

I contacted Mr. Castro to help with the restoration of my firearm rights. I had worked with a different attorney and after four months it was mutually agreed he had over extended I needed to take the case elsewhere. Mr. Castro handled everything in a timely and professional manner. Everything was completed in a few short weeks. I am very happy to have found him and would certainly recommend him to anyone needing similar representation.

My wife and I hired David Visser for our estate planning about six months ago. Being this was our first time doing this he was very helpful and knowledgable. We both were unsure of the process and had a lot of questions. Mr. Visser walked us step by step through the process explaining everything in detail to where my wife and I fully understood and could make sound decisions. We enjoyed working with David Visser and would recommend his services to anyone.

I had a house with an ex-wife that was not getting settled and it looked as though a short sale was our only option. I did not know much about this process and so I asked a friend to recommend someone as I had no idea what to look for. My friend gave two numbers to call and David was the one that called me back; it was literally one of the best calls I'd ever made. David is a realistic professional with real world expectations, in that, he gave me all the tools to handle my massive situation while not treating me like I was ignorant of the processes (even though I was). He treated me with respect, corrected me when needed, and helped me feel at ease in a very difficult time. Every chance I get, I will recommend David to those that need help or advice. He will be their biggest asset.

David assisted us in preparing necessary documents for the inevitable, as well as estate planning, and was incredibly thorough in all of his documentation. He is not only knowledgable, but also personable and easy to work with. My husband is wary of lawyers, and was surprised he rather enjoyed the experience! David doesn't talk down to you, but instead, explains everything candidly, making for an interesting and productive time. We felt great about accomplishing necessary life tasks and with whom we had selected to complete them. We can't recommend David enough, and have endorsed him to all our friends seeking legal support.

Craig Larsen answered and took my phone call personally. From the beginning he was positive yet realistic and willing to help solve my infraction issues, where previous attorneys I spoke to were very pessimistic about the outcome. At the end my infraction was dropped thanks to Craig.

Although its hit or miss with every traffic ticket, Craig did his job very well, kept me informed and offered good advice on next steps. Very glad I used his services and got the dismissal on my speeding ticket.

I picked up a speeding ticket along Highway 2 on a steep downhill section. I'm very glad I found Craig. Excellent communication, reasonable rates, I did not have to appear in court and he was able to get my ticket dropped straight away. Highly recommended!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Wenatchee, Washington?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
