Fantastic Law Firm. Everyone was professional and expressed concern for my family. I recommend Manchin Ferretti for any Injury that you may have. Don't go at the insurance company alone.

The receptionist I spoke to after my initial intake email was extremely prompt and polite. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about the lawyer I spoke to. I believe it was Manchin, but either way, from the get-go, it was clear that either this guy hadn't even taken a peek at the details I provided them before he called me, or he thought the injury and subsequent issues I was calling about were so laughable that he just had to call me and reiterate a dozen times why he was confused that I was getting in touch with them. Next time you have someone come to you for help, instead of demeaning them, try explaining to them what qualifies for your assistance and what doesn't. People call lawyers because they feel like they've been put in an unfair financial and psychological position due to circumstances out of their control. For some reason, though, even after explaining my worries and my situation to the lawyer, he was asking ME what I believe I'm entitled to and did it in the most disrespectful manner. I don't know what I feel like I'm entitled to, and that's why I called you. Confused why I would be concerned about 5 misdiagnoses. Confused why I would be concerned about the time I've missed from work because of it. Confused why I would be concerned that I've been working in pain for months because of it. Confused why I felt like I was going crazy for months because doctors told me nothing was wrong with me. Confused why I thought I'd be entitled to FMLA with my previous employer where the issue started and confused why I would change jobs... I would've sworn I was speaking French to this guy. Absolutely terrible client service. Maybe he's just so used to fake neck injury lawsuits that this one was beyond his scope of expertise.

Could not have worked with a better office after my automobile accident. Laura Davis kept me up to date on case progress and very personable. The rest of her support staff were in touch with me also. Well done. Thanks Laura.

Laura has been absolutely amazing. I called and was accidentally transferred over to her and she immediately took me in and has helped me since our first conversation. I came into all of this with a blind eye and she took me right in after I was turned down by multiple people. She has been super responsive, so helpful and I can’t thank her enough. I am hoping for the best outcome for my situation and am currently waiting but she has gone above and beyond to help me and make this as smooth as possible, especially when she did not have to at all. Thank you so so much Laura, I will always refer to you if need be! You are truly amazing and selfless!

Let's start by saying Laura and her team are amazing to work with. My journey started on Feb 16th 2023 from a dump truck rolloff crossing over the line and hitting me and putting me into two 360 spins and slamming into a concrete barrier. Was taken to the hospital by ambulance with injuries. The driver was charged in the accident. I got in contact with the driver insurance company to try and settle it myself. My car was totaled plus mounting doctors bills. Insurance Company keep stalling me for 3 months on paying for my totaled car then only offered to give me half the amount of what my doctors bills totaled. So I contacted another attorney explained everything and presented all my info of the totaled car and doctors bills and so forth. That attorney said it wasn't enough for them to take my case in their opinion. So instead of giving up I reached out to Laura Davis for a second opinion on my case. She reviewed all my documents and info and said she could help me. After a few months of her taking my case she was able to get the insurance to settle up with me. I'm am very please with what Laura and team was able to do for me. So if you get turned down by 1 attorney never give up always seek a 2nd opinion. Better yet contact Laura Davis first and foremost. She will be upfront and honest with you from the beginning. When I first sat down with Laura I told her this wasn't about me getting a big pay day. I wanted what I needed to cover what I lost on my totaled car and medical expenses and lost time from work. It was about letting the Insurance company know you just can screw over everyday people and get away with it. And Laura and her team came through and them some with the settlement. Laura and her team are very responsive and keep you up to date on the progress of your claim. If I ever need a injury attorney again she will be my first and only call. Sincerely Mark Johnson. Thru her wealth of knowledge on the subject of criminal defense law combined with her experience as a prosecutor, she brought a tenacious defense that was tempered with a caring manner to our case. She utilized many outstanding, unique, and very creative strategies both inside and out of the court room to bring our case to a acceptable resolution. My family interviewed multiple possible lawyers before choosing Kim. I distinctly remember being impressed by her thoroughness and aggressive manner towards the facts of the case, but assumed that she would eventually tire and not have much time for us. Kim did the opposite - she kept us informed, always had time for us, and showed an amazing ability to make everyone feel important while level setting expectations. Even in the face of an unethical law enforcement and prosecution she held firm to the beliefs and standards of the criminal justice systems. I would like to say that Kim took a particular interest in helping us, as her clients, to achieve our goals, but I believe that she feels and acts the exact same way towards all of her clients and cases. She is a great lawyer that I would highly recommend and feel privileged to have had her represent my family.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Martinsburg, West Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
