I cannot recommend Attorney Paul Cranston highly enough! After my first car accident, I felt overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. From our first meeting, he made me feel at ease and took the time to explain every step of the legal process. Cranston was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, gathering all necessary evidence and negotiating with the insurance company on my behalf. Thanks to his hard work and dedication, I received a settlement that exceeded my expectations not only once but three times!! I have been a returning client for years because beyond his expertise, I truly appreciated the compassion and support he provided throughout my case. Their team was always available to answer my questions and kept me informed every step of the way. If you're looking for a skilled and caring attorney, look no further than Attorney Paul Cranston.

Jeff was compassionate, empathetic and very helpful during a horrific turn of events. He was very dedicated, and proactive at representing me. I would highly recommend Jeff for anyone needing representation, and unsure of who to trust, and turn to when in need.

I had an issue that was very specific and very nuanced. Despite that fact, Mr. Robinette took the time to hear me out and give me the help I needed.

I was in need of some legal advice over a contract for selling puppies. I am not a wealthy person and was In desperate need of legal advice and had called a few different attorneys around and left messages and never received a call back from any. So today I got on line and was praying I got ahold of someone today. I called one number and Jeffrey Robinette answered the phone himself and was more then willing to speak to me. I told him My situation and what my concerns were and that I definitely didn’t have lots of money to hire an attorney but I was scared of the unknown and what lied ahead for my family and I, if I didn’t get some advice or a lawyer for my situation. He was more then willing to talk to me for a good while and give me advice on my situation and great advice at that. I would recommend him to anyone and will from here on out to anyone I hear say needs an attorney. He never once made me feel as if I was anything but a paying client or that my situation was any less important to him. Knowing that he is an attorney that gets payed a lot of money an hour for his services I was a little nervous about even calling but he made me feel welcomed and helped me more then he will ever know . Even told me to call him back for any help and advice I may need anytime ! AMAZING MAN In my Eyes and will be the first name out of my mouth for a lawyer to anyone from here on out. Thank you so much .

When I met Gail the first time I felt intimidated by her confidence and knowledge of my situation. By the time I left her office I felt like a lawyer lol she was thorough professional and I began to gain that same confidence. A strong attorney who will give her all to defend you case . She understands the assignment and she will work with you to give you the best service for what you can afford. If you have a family or loved ones she will fight for them as well .

During our initial consultation, her confidence, experience, and knowledge was extremely evident and comforting to us. What put her on a whole other level was her obvious passion for seeking the truth and bringing justice to her clients. She went above and beyond expectations by showing us genuine compassion during a very difficult time. We knew right away we were in very good hands. Once she took our case, she worked very quickly to expose the truth and achieve justice we desperately needed in a time of crisis for our family. She spent time talking to us at length and explained things to us in a way we could understand. She is also very talented at effectively communicating with others inside and outside of the court room.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Morgantown, West Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
