I retained Jay Englund in June, 2021 to represent a family member who had been arrested in Sauk County, Wisconsin; and charged with domestic battery. The family member lived in Illinois, but the alleged assault occurred in Wisconsin. I needed an attorney who was licensed to practice law in Wisconsin. The case lasted approximately 15 months. The results were impressive and gratifying. The domestic battery charge-a felony; was dropped, as were other charges. The final disposition-agreed to by all parties; was a fine-a "forfeiture, plus costs"-of $365.50. The favorable disposition was the result of Jay's efforts. He responded to the challenges of this case with extraordinary poise and professionalism, and always with the best interests of his client as his single focus. He excelled in those tasks and attributes which were critical to his support of his client, including the following: Timely communications with all stakeholders-his client, the prosecution team, and the court; great attention to detail; an assertive, confident courtroom presence; strong analytical skills and-perhaps most important-patience and focus on the important "stuff."
