My divorce process was almost 2 years long due to the other side being difficult, and almost entirely impossible to work with at times. Michelle not only stuck it out with me, but was very professional and always knew what to do and had a plan for any obstacles that came our way. She is very knowledgeable and very realistic when going through possible outcomes, and also very compassionate while explaining tough situations. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of a divorce attorney!

Michelle and her staff were wonderful to work with through my divorce and the difficult custody battle. Michelle was always willing to go above and beyond, represented me professionally, and gave fast responses to emails. She made me feel heard and understood. She was honest and realistic. I highly recommend Michelle to represent anyone who requires legal representation!

Michelle represented me in a divorce and was very respectful to both parties. She answered all my questions and was very honest about possible outcomes. She was very well organized and made sure that any information needed for the case was available at the hearing. But more than anything she was compassionate and understanding and was in my corner through the whole process. Malori was very efficient and kept things moving along. Together Michelle and Malori are a great team and the outcome was much better than I expected. I am so grateful to these two - thank you both.

As a parent who has worked with several lawyers throughout multiple cases, Michelle has been, by far, the best lawyer for me! She fought hard for me and my family, she was always willing to work with me and even when we didn't win everything we had hoped for, she still was fighting for me and definitely compassionate. Her and her assistant, Malori, are always easy to talk to and communicate with, they are efficient, and honestly felt like they had good team work. Both ladies, were always thorough with paperwork and made sure all details matched and were lined up. In my opinion, I would not use another lawyer! Definitely a team that deserves 5/5 stars

I would give Michelle 10 out of 5 stars if I could. What I thought would be a long, stressy, expensive and combative alteration of a maintenance order was smooth and fast. Most importantly, Michelle and Malori ran the show competently and efficiently to get this all done out of court. They are not afraid to defuse nerves with humor and unfailingly respond to questions and concerns quickly in ways that are reassuring rather than terrifying. I can honestly say her services were worth every penny and then some. I can’t speak to any of her other specialties, but if you have a family law issue this is the attorney you want on your side. Get her before the other side does!

Divorce is not easy and having the extra pressure of the law requirements and necessary filing she really did take an incredible amount of pressure off of me. We went through a lot of intense negotiating and she made a point in handling those difficult conversations for me. She went above and beyond in addressing the financial and legal discussions to which helped in maintaining the best possible relationship with my ex and the father of my child. I could not have done it without her and I appreciate her help more than she knows.

Michelle and Malori are the best in the area! Not only are they available when you need them, as a father they support your fight to stay in your children’s life, regardless of the uphill battle that one may face. My battle was long and arduous, and expensive! However, the fight to stay in my children’s life without their help would have been longer and even more expensive in the long long run. They were understanding in a very complicated situation. Also the rates are extremely reasonable for the area and they fight just as hard as anyone else. They charge you reasonably and always with the understanding that they work for you and your best interest while balancing what needs to be done and when. I hope not to have to employ their services again, but if I do it will be without any hesitation. I truly recommend Michelle and Malori for your divorce needs.

Michelle did such an amazing job advocating for me regarding my concerns. As a newly single dad, I was honestly very afraid of the process and what it might mean for my kids and I. She calmed me down very quickly at our first meeting, and continued to do so throughout the case. Michelle was very easy to communicate with, and very clearly defined what I needed to do. After 8.5 years, I was required to get an Attorney and I was terrified about the situation. I didn't even know where to begin in finding a family court Attorney so I googled for local Attorneys and Michelle Achterberg appeared. I read reviews (on this website) and took the plunge. I couldn't be happier with not only my final result, but the professionalism and approach she took with my case. She was straight forward and realistic with me. She explained what we could and couldn't do and what rights we had backing us statutorily. We took the ball and kept it in our court and were prepared to press harder if needed. Thankfully, in my situation, we didn't need to, and it concluded very quickly. I was lucky in this regard. If necessary, I would have continued to use Attorney Achterberg throughout my case. I can't agree more with every positive comment mentioned about her and Malori. She was fair in pricing and I felt like she made my case a priority. She was timely with everything we needed to do, whether it be contacting the other Attorney, filing paperwork with the Court, or writing up our own proposals. I always felt welcomed to contact her with questions, concerns, or ideas, and she responded very quickly. Our conversations were not rushed and I never felt like I was competing for time on my case. I felt as though she recognized every conversation, every minute, was important to me and my case and she respected this. I'm hopeful I won't need to hire anybody in the future, but if I do, I will absolutely return to this office and I can't speak highly enough of this experience. Do yourself a favor, and hire her immediately!
