Attorney Howe quite literally saved my life & I don't say that lightly. When I had just about gave up & accepted my life was ruined, Howe brought back hope when I desperately needed it. He listened to my long & complicated story with complete patience & compassion & most importantly believed me. He fought for me & showed me the importance of not giving up despite the odds that seemed stacked against me. I would recommend Howe if you find yourself in a difficult & hard spot, he will listen to your story & he will fight for you & give you hope when you need it most. I honestly don't know how my life would've turned out if it had not been for him. I have my life back, my reputation, my goals & dreams are still alive, & despite going through one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, Howe showed me there's truly still good people out there who care & will be there to help you through the dark times to show you the light again. Thank you so much Mr. Howe for everything you've done for me & showing me why you should never give up, no matter what!

I was facing an OWI charge, as well as, an eluding an officer charge. These offenses carried heavy consequences, jail time, probation and a vehicle interlock device. Walking into Attorney Mark Howe's office I expected the worst. He assured me that he would do everything in his power to make these repercussions as minimal as possible. At my first court date, I was facing 10 days in jail and 18 months probation. I walked away with nothing. Mark's persistence, diligence and knowledge somehow saved me from my worst nightmare. Mark then settled my OWI case out of court. My BAC was .162 which almost certainly guaranteed me an interlock device in my vehicle. With Mark representing me I received a small fine. Mark is an honest, knowledgeable and professional Attorney and person. He truly cares about his clients and I am so grateful for his persistence in resolving me of my charges. Thank you Mark.

Mark defended me in a criminal case a few years ago. All charges were dropped with the exception of the lesser charge, in which case the charge was expunged after doing one year of probation. Mark is sharp, diligent and cares about his clients. He even took the time to give me some good advice regarding another case I'm currently dealing with prior to retaining him. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking results. Thanks again for your help!

I was lucky to find PINNACLE CREDIT SPECIALIST and they raised my credit from 580 to 801. Also, my parents have no established credit reporting. They went bankrupt like 15 years back. I started planning to help them rebuild their credit. Made them credit karma accounts, my dad’s was not reporting anything on TU but Equifax was showing 563, Experian 549 with one closed account, JCPenny from 1995. Thank you PINNACLE CREDIT SPECIALIST for the help, he also helped my parents raise their credit score to over 240 points and he made sure he deleted all negative items on their credit profile. I now have 100k in credit limit and plenty of massive cards that I now use very carefully, don’t miss payment. My parents are now financially safe. Thank you PINNACLE CREDIT SPECIALIST for your help! Here is his contact info:

Chris was not only a great lawyer, but he was also compassionate with me and my circumstances. He is a great communicator, and easy to open up to in difficult situations . What stood out to me about Chris, was the fact he has been practicing law for several decades .When we would go to the courthouse, he knew almost everybody by name and engaged with them. It seemed like I had a lawyer who cared about people and clients. He did everything that I asked him and answered all my difficult questions.

About 10 years ago I ended a business partnership. Jon covered the bases. Then a few years later the government tried to come after me for the taxes, because Jon took care of everything right the first time, the papers had all the dates proving I had no longer been there. Thank you Jon D. Anderson for being there and being that one person I could trust! Sincerely, Gary

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
