After a rear end accident I was hounded a couple times a week from the other insurance company to settle. I said my car is in the shop and was for over 2 months and I am in so much pain and going to a chiropractor and a physical therapist weekly and until all this is fixed I will not settle. Nothing I said deterred them from continuing to hound me to settle. I felt intimidated by them and they had me worried so I knew I needed an attorney. I called Habush Habush and Rottier because they had a great reputation. I got in that week for an appointment to see if they would take my case. I was lucky enough to be greeted by Ed Vopal an attorney at the firm. He was a very mild mannered person who was very caring calming in his questioning of me about the accident and that is exactly what I needed. I left our first meeting feeling safe and secure knowing I was going taken care of. Ed worked very hard on my case and had a huge binder of paperwork involving the accident. He was wonderful on his preparing me for a deposition with the attorneys from the other insurance company and kept me calm in my answers. I could go on and on about Ed but all his office staff was just as wonder always so warm and friendly in their calls to me or when I was in the office. They are a great team. I will forever be grateful to Ed and his staff for all they did and the settlement I received and would highly recommend Ed to anyone looking for a great attorney to represent them.

I slipped on unsalted ice in a business parking lot and suffered a serious leg injury that kept me out of work for 5 months of recovery. After reaching out to Habush Habush and Rottier, Attorney Ed Vopal was willing to take my case even though slip and falls are risky and can have a low success rate. He listened to me and he cared about my story. He did everything he could to make things right for me, and was very forthcoming with information. His entire firm kept in regular communication with me and kept me up to date on what was happening behind the scenes. After about 18 months, we reached a settlement we were all happy with and I am more than pleased with the service and care I received with Habush Habush and Rottier.

Attorney Ed Vopal(Habash, Habash and Rottier)and his team were very professional and educated in the process for an injury claim. He kept me and my husband informed over the two(plus) year time period of my case. His knowledge and calm demeanor helped win our case, but was prepared to go to court if need be. His negotiation skills helped me get more than I expected. I am more than comfortable with the results and would recommend him to anyone.

Scott Stebbins represented me in a revocation matter. He was wonderful. From the moment he took my case I was able to be confident that I was accurately represented. He took initiative in communicating with me, he put all of my options on the table so I could choose the direction I wanted to go with my case, and when in front of the judge he properly explained my situation. He gave the judge every single piece of information, building a strong defense and allowing for the judge to make a fully informed decision regarding my sentence. I could not have asked for a better lawyer, he was great.

He helped me out a bunch. He was smart and able to help me throug the court process. I thought I was going to jail for sure, but he made sure that didn't happen. I was scared at first because he seemed young and new, but that didn't matter in the end. His office did have a weird flower smell though.

About 10 years ago I ended a business partnership. Jon covered the bases. Then a few years later the government tried to come after me for the taxes, because Jon took care of everything right the first time, the papers had all the dates proving I had no longer been there. Thank you Jon D. Anderson for being there and being that one person I could trust! Sincerely, Gary

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
