Honestly the worst, I paid 3 grand for this and can’t even get a phone call back after 3 weeks of reaching out to my attorney. At this point I’ve learned their waiting jingle. This is ridiculous

This is probably my first review I have ever left on a website because it is warranted. I was recommended Renee E. Mura S.C. Attorneys At Law by a friend who had a lawyer from the firm represent his ex against him and Jacqueline Hallac took my case. I will admit that I was hesitant at first because of court biases and Jacqueline blew my expectations out of the water. Not only was she professional but she was also personal, patient, respectful, and kind. She definitely went the extra mile when it came to my best interests and she was informative along the way. I would recommend anyone to this law firm and especially Jacqueline Hallac!! Thank you!!

Extremely disappointed with my experience with this firm. I had Atty Jacqueline Hallac who failed to prep me for a De Novo hearing where I had absolutely NO IDEA that I was going to be put on the stand and cross examined or was to bring any evidence. Having your divorce lawyer scrambling at the table during a hearing for custody and placement is in no way comforting. We were at the point where she was trying to use screen shots on my phone as evidence since she wasn't prepared and lo and behold, that evidence is inadmissible since there were no copies to submit. After the fact when asked "why" we did not prep for this hearing, the response was, "Not all judges hold an evidentiary support hearing for De Novo." So instead of preparing anything or even mentioning that I would be put on the stand or would be asked to produce evidence, we did nothing at all. The hearing did not go well, I no longer trusted her competency to take me to trial for custody and replaced her with another attorney ASAP.

After going through a traumatic experience with separation, I sought out this law firm and worked with Jacqueline Hallac. I had never had to deal with an attorney before so I was uneasy at first, but Jacqueline made me feel heard and brought her all to the court room. Extremely grateful and impressed with her services. THANK YOU.

She was very organized, detailed and well prepared in her representation of me. Her years of experience is obvious. If I needed her in the future, I would be seeing Renee again. I would highly recommend Attorney Renee Mura.

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and was injured. I know I needed an attorney but did not know who to hire. I've seen commercials for Habush on television so I looked them up on-line. The reviews were very positive, so I decided to have them represent me. I consulted with attorney Andrew Wier and he explained how my case would be handled. From start to finish the process was excellent. I was kept informed every step of the way and eventually settled my case for more than I thought. The staff is friendly and genuinely caring. If you are in need of a personal injury attorney I highly recommend Mr. Andrew Wier.

Andrew and his paralegal were incredibly understanding, compassionate, helpful, and knowledgeable about what I should do when I called them with my accident situation. I was extremely impressed at how they persisted with difficult insurance adjusters and most importantly gave expert opinions but let you decide what is best for you. I tell everyone I know that needs a lawyer that Andrew and Habush are the only people I would go to for legal representation. He even helped me with referrals for other legal matters...

Mr. Marry was vigorously recommended to me, with absolute promise of his success, were he to handle my DV case. Facing felony charges and the ruin of my foreseeable future, I went to Phil an absolute wreck. I was shocked at how calm, composed, and collected he remained, and at how hopeful he was for my situation. His secretary, Mrs. Jen, was just as wonderfully reassuring, and confident in his abilities. Phil worked with me financially, explained every step of the process, and ensured that I was aware of every possible outcome of my dire circumstances. He facilitated the passing of information to all parties involved, and I believe it was this aspect of his multifaceted professionalism, that granted me an Ordinance, rather than a Felony charge. Thanks to Phil Marry, I am able to spend time with my wife and better myself at home. I cannot possibly express my thanks and recommendation sufficiently enough.

They are easy to work with and know what they are doing. We will refer them to anyone who needs an attorney. We were able to get our house protected and our Trust, POA, Will and all the documents that go with it for a fair price.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Kenosha, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
