I cannot express how grateful I am for the support that Attorney Joe Bugni and his paralegal, Trinity, provided to my dear friend, NLP. After a grueling nearly four-year battle with her previous attorney, who seemed to only exacerbate her emotional turmoil and stress, NLP finally found a team that truly listens and cares about her well-being. From the moment NLP began working with Joe and Trinity, it was like a weight had been lifted. They not only offered her the legal expertise she desperately needed but also took the time to listen to her concerns and fears. It’s incredible to witness the transformation in NLP; she has gone from feeling hopeless to regaining her confidence and sense of happiness. The difference between Joe Bugni's team and NLP's previous attorney is astounding. While the former seemed indifferent to what was best for her, Joe and Trinity are genuinely invested in ensuring that NLP achieves the best possible outcome. Their respect for her as a client is evident, and it’s clear that they prioritize her needs every step of the way. NLP often shares her praise for how exceptional Joe and Trinity are, and it's a joy to see her so optimistic about her case. She speaks highly of the overall firm they represent, emphasizing its professionalism and top-notch service. If ever I find myself in need of legal assistance, I know exactly who I would want in my corner – Joe Bugni and Trinity. I have no doubt that this firm will deliver outstanding results, and I'm thrilled for NLP as she continues her journey with such a capable team. They are not just her attorneys; they are her advocates, and the community stands firmly behind her. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Joe, Trinity, and the entire firm for taking what was once an overwhelming mess and steering it towards a remarkably positive resolution. I look forward to celebrating the successes that await NLP, and I am confident that with such dedicated representation, she is on her way to achieving the peace and closure she deserves.

What can I say they promise the world but do less than nothing after you sign with them except drain your money.. frivolous billing for zero work. They won’t follow the direction of the client and make every excuse imaginable while billing crazy amounts of time. I even got billed for the initial interview I had with this firm. I had to reach out every time because why would they contact their client but had no issues sending me statements of my trust account getting drained… stay far away from place they’ll tell you anything you want to hear and they won’t deliver or even listen. I’m now months invested and money while being farther behind then before I walked in their doors. I’m glad I fired them today should’ve did it along time ago… I’ve met public defenders that had more knowledge. Thanks for wasting my time and money I personally don’t think they could even fix a parking ticket - the lawyer I had couldn’t.

Throughout my experience with Hurley Burish S.C., specifically speaking with Joe and having representations from C. Beeson, I have only positive regard. Competence, Character, and Commitment were always present throughout the process from the referral to the ruling. They are very transparent about the cost and fee structure. Everything was sensibly efficient, and it was a pleasure working with them. I highly recommend them for your legal matters. Cheers!

Upon searching for a lawyer , I had seen Rick was voted one of the best in Madison, and I certainly attest to that. He has been with me throughout my case from July until November where he was able to get everything dismissed for me with no hassle , he took my negative situation and turned it into a positive for me and he worked on getting me the best possible outcome, making sure I was comfortable, taken care of and understood the process of everything throughout. His kindness, communication , professionalism, and overall knowledge throughout was top notch and I can’t say enough good things from my experience with Rick as my lawyer. Madison is very lucky to have him. He is truly the best & I was very happy and honored to have him represent me.

I'll do my best here to express my sincere appreciation for an individual that stood in my corner and walked alongside me when I needed representation. I'm profoundly grateful for Attorney Rick Coad. His exceptional management of my case was matchless. Rick gets results. You want Rick in your corner when facing confusing, unnerving, and delicate court processes. I trusted Rick with leading and representing my best interests and he delivered. Rick worked boldly, spoke brilliantly, and leveled with me honestly. Attorney Coad was transparent about what we faced in court, and remained crystal clear to the end. We won the best result thanks to belief in the process, an inspired and eloquent presentation on my behalf by Rick, and trusting in our goal. Thank you Rick for your professional stewardship and dedication as my Attorney.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Madison, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
