I’m writing this review about my experience with Attorney Corey Mehlos. In October of 2020 my life I just took a an unpredicted turn and I ended up in jail facing 84 years prison time for a crime I did not commit. This was my first time to jail and it was scary. Not knowing the system was the hardest part, additionally being innocent and in jail on crazy allegations of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and many others charges has brought me doubts in our Justice system. My case was based on a alleged victim who lied her way out of being arrested and accused me of committing outrages allegations. They set my bond at $250,000 and I was not able to post my bail. Working with Corey Mehlos eased my pain in this nightwear. I felt like he was very dedicated to my case. During Motions Hearing Corey was always prepared and gave state of Wisconsin compelling arguments. Corey Has won a lot of motions that established how the alleged victim lied about prior allegations against me and prosecutor decided to dismiss 9 felonies days before trial. Its unfortunate State of Wisconsin showed lack of Due Diligence in my case and have falsely imprisoned me for 9 month of my life. Working with Casper Mehlos Law Group I felt that I was protected from malicious prosecution. The dedication was tremendous and I know ultimately I was proven innocent and for that I’m thankful to Corey Mehlos.

Attorney Mehlos is the very best defense attorney in the area. He is worth every cent! We are grateful he represented our family member. Corey is calm and reassuring. He seeks to understand his client’s needs and the facts and context of the case. He knows the law and commands respect in the court room by being exceptionally well prepared. My family hired Corey to help me with my case to fix an issue when things got complicated.My first lawyer encouraged me to take a deal and plead guilty to get into a diversion program even though my ex falsely accused me of domestic violence. I had a lot of reservations about saying I was guilty  for something I didn’t do even though I was told all charges would be dropped once I finished the program. My attorney didn’t know that I was supposed to come with a fake story that matched what my ex said so I got kicked out of the program and was told I was going to have domestic violence crimes on my record for life. That’s when my family hired Corey. He met with me and really got to know the issues in my case and found a lot of evidence that helped show my innocence. He went back to the prosecutor and got me a deal that allowed me to get the charges dismissed without admitting to something I didn’t do. Compared to my first attorney, Corey spent a lot more time getting to know me as a person and figuring out the case so he get me the result I needed. Although I wish my family hired him the first time, I am glad we found him eventually and am grateful that I didn’t have to worry about domestic violence crimes for something I didn’t do holding me back from getting hired for jobs in the future.

BEST of the BEST, simply stated I retained Attorney Corey Mehlos on behalf of my brother who was in some serious trouble. He had a state appointed attorney for several months and going into pretrial conference the best plea on the table was arguing in open court with the State asking for 2 years in prison. It was at this time that his previous attorney was let go and we retained Corey. If you disregard everything else read on this page, please take away these few words, Hiring a first class, top notch, professional attorney is the single most important decision you are going to make; it is the decision that will determine the outcome of your proceedings. I spoke with many attorney ,many are going to sell you a great bill of sales. This guy delivers!! Period. 1000%. That's a promise and that's the truth. From one stranger to another, if you have to bring one person to your fight, this is the guy you bring to that fight. I can go on and on and tell you that he is more than bright, quick, intelligent, diligent, professional, etc. All of that is true. What I want you to know most is that choosing an Attorney is your most important decision, and this guy is a boss that delivers, this I know with certainty. My brother's previous attorney was walking him to the front door of a prison cell. I hired Attorney Mehlos and brother never spent a day behind bars. Corey Mehlos was wonderful to work with. He listened to my situation and helped ease my worries with his thorough explanation of what he thought was the most likely to happen with my case. I was arrested for allegedly driving while drugged in Wisconsin, despite the fact that I have never done an illicit drug in my life and had been prescribed medication by my doctor. The minute Corey found out about the arrest, he immediately called me, and began discussing how we were going to defend the case: the basis on how the arrest could be challenged, and he asked a lengthy series of questions to discover that at one point the officer may have violated my rights by arresting me without following proper procedures. He also discussed with me my defenses that could prove I was innocent based on his knowledge of the impairing effects of prescription medication. One of the most interesting parts of the experience was when arresting officer told me that a public defender would be available, I told her I knew someone who was a criminal defense attorney; her partner who had already seemed concerned about the arrest, asked, "What's his name?" I said, "Corey Mehlos." His face immediately went from concerned about having enough evidence to arrest me to crestfallen. I guess the prosecutor had the same reaction as charges were dismissed as soon as Corey filed his notice of retainer to represent me.

I got to know Corey Mehlos when a group of us were working to free an innocent man from prison. Corey worked hard on the case with the Wisconsin Innocence Project for a number of years. Without his and the projects help I don't think we would have been able to succeed in getting the man released. He spent 16 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Corey's dedication,compassion and knowledge helped us to get Don released and I cannot thank him enough. We all have remained in touch and there have been a number of times I went to him for legal advice. He helped me right away. Answered all my questions and steered me in the right direction. Corey Mehlos represented a close friend with his felony child abuse and child protective service case. I was really involved with the case and read a lot of the evidence and came to a number of hearings to follow the case. Based on my experience, my friend hiring Corey was the best decision he made in his case. Although I don't have a lot of experience with lawyers, I was able to observe how different Corey and two different prosecutors handled the case. By comparison, Corey filed several dozen legal arguments and every time it seemed he was so far ahead of the prosecutors it wasn't a fair fight. At one point, Corey cross-examined the county's top prosecutor about the bias he showed towards my friend. Another local attorney said he hadn't seen that happen in 40 years practicing law. Corey took complete control of the courtroom. He made all of the reasons that the prosecutor gave for his decisions in the case look like he didn't know what he was talking about and actually caught him twice testifying under oath to facts that were contradicted by his own lead investigator. It was stunning to see how with 3 witnesses at one hearing in October, Corey convinced the judge that the first witness committed perjury under oath, the second (the prosecutor) was contradicted by his own lead investigator, and the third (the investigator) was forced to admit almost every question Corey asked about how he had no justification for his choice to target my friend as a suspect and fail to follow up on any other leads. Not only did Corey show legal skills that were on a different level than the prosecutor, he really showed how much he cared about my friend, oftentimes calling him after hours and being there for him too give him perspective and help him during stressful times in the case. He also really involved my friend in his own defense. They constantly brainstormed ways to beat the case and overcome every argument the other attorney threw at them. And they continued to put pressure on the prosecutor by finding and Corey exploiting every possible mistake to my friend's advantage. There were multiple times when the judge had to call a hearing just to question the prosecutor about mistakes that Corey caught him doing. I wasn't surprised when Corey got all charges thrown out before trial based on what I saw in the courtroom.
