I recieved such honest and outstanding service from Martin Law Office for an injury I received in a car accident. The other drivers fault from slamming into the back end of my car I was sitting in. Attny Anthony Skemp and his paralegals were always letting me know what kind of information they needed from me. They were great at writing up the timeline and keeping me updated. Between Atty Anthony Skemp, his paralegals and the front desk I was always able to reach someone and get my questions answered. I felt relaxed, well represented and protected. The kindness, understanding, and integrity of the service was greatly appreciated by me. The settlement process was so successful and even beyond what I had imagined to be possible. The best part was being able to settle during mediation without having to go into a court situation. I found this to be a top notch firm and outstanding professionals in their expertise. I have already referred a friend to this firm who also had praises about the service and such a favorable settlement in a vehicle accident ( the other drivers fault) that has helped them in the present and set up into their future too. I am so thankful for all the work, representation, and protecting my rights and needs during this stressful event(s) that Attny Anthony Skemp and the team at Martin Law Office.

I hired Atty Anthony Skemp after I was injured and still in treatment for the painful injury caused by another driver who slammed into the back of my car while I was sitting behind the wheel waiting to move up in a line at a drop off point. The other driver´s insurance company seemed to be helpful. However, about 1.5 mos into receiving treatment and not medically released yet the other drivers insurance company was trying all kinds of hard pressuring tactics to force me into signing off on the claim. I knew that did not seem right. After contacting and having a great first conversation with Atty Anthony Skemp I hired him. I was in pain and physically limited from the injury. I did not have the energy nor the knowledge of how to stick up for my needs and how to proceed with the tactics from the adjuster with the other drivers insurance company. During my first contact with Attny Anthony Skemp I had such a “peace of mind” and knew that the issues with getting the medical bills covered and my rights protected he would be my right choice. There was so much paperwork to gather, filling out forms, writing down the time line, gathering names and addresses etc. and put it all in order. I found myself to be unable to deal well with this all. He immediately took care of all of the paperwork and made sure the bills were paid and also had his paralegals working with me on a timely manner. I was always updated on the status and timeline of my case. Of course the other drivers insurance company was always stalling and what ever other tactics they could do. During my deposition there were some tactics being used by the other drivers insurance lawyer. Atty Anthony Skemp spoke up strongly about all the nonsense. I felt totally advocated for and protected. Of course a case can be drawn out by the other party. Eventually this case was court ordered to mediation. In the finalizing of the case after Atty Anthony Skemp and his paralegal collated all the information he was able to get this case settled without going to court. He was even able to reduce reimbursements due from the final settlement amount. He had such integrity, always kept me in the loop, and was so fierce in negotiating on my behalf. He always showed me kindness when I was feeling quite distressed from the entire ordeal. I always felt I was in good hands with him and his staff and they handled so much of the process so I could concentrate on my needs and to work towards healing to the best I could. I had also referred close friends who had been in a life threatening injury from a vehicle accident (not their fault). Attny Skemp stood right by their side the whole way and made sure in obtaining the settlement on their behalf that their needs were provided for in the present and also into their future. Without hesitation I recommend Atty Anthony Skemp. I found that he is honest, he doesn’t spin any stories and always presents the accurate facts. In return he expected the same from me and also kept me on track when I was starting to loose my focus. I am grateful that he was on my team and he was quite a fierce fighter on my behalf. I did observe in the various proceedings that he is well respected by his peers. He was able to negotiate on my behalf a settlement that ended up to be much more than I had imagined. Without hesitation if needed I would hire again and also continue to refer others to Atty Anthony Skemp. Top notch service all the way.

I would absolutely recommend Anthony Skemp to anyone with a personal injury case. I was hit on my scooter by a van that crossed in front of my path while I had the right of way. I had no prior knowledge of Anthony, but he was referred to me by a lawyer with whom I had worked before. Anthony met with me personally on many occasions (not a staff person or investigator). Anthony was available via email, text and phone throughout my representation, and always got back to me within a day. Anthony explained the entire process to me and advised me at every stage. The case was settled prior to trial to more than my satisfaction. In fact, I would have settled for much less had Anthony not encouraged me to work for every penny possible. I wholeheartedly recommend Anthony and his work!

When I first met Anthony after my car accident I had no idea this would end up going to a jury trial and it was probably good that I didnt. There were many times that I wanted to throw in the towel during the process especially as the trial got closer. Tony would give me a pep talk and say “we’ve come this far... we are knocking on the door... you can do this”. Day 1 of court arrived, not going to lie, I was scared to death. He kept telling me “just tell your story”. Then when I finally got to watch him during court in the full capacity of MY attorney I can describe it no other way than that of a mother watching her child at a sporting event. I wanted to yell, “that’s my boy!” He fought for me. He put countless hours into me and my case. He stood shoulder to shoulder with me and righted the wrong. He stood up there and vindicated me. He made the jury see me as a truth teller not a liar like the opposing attorney kept trying to do. If you ever find yourself in need of an attorney for matters like these (and I hope you never do) I highly highly recommend Tony and his entire staff. I can’t promise it will be easy... but I can promise Tony will get you through it.

Mr. Martin accepted my case regarding fraud resulting in business losses. Others didn’t want this case. Attorney Martin was up front about concerns regarding winning. Still, he accepted the case based on merit, and he won the case with ease based on his knowledge.

I don't even know where to start as I want my review to be completely from the heart...when I was in a car accident from another driver hitting me it turned my world upside down. I quickly made the accident of hiring another attorney I had used for something else and found myself lost in answers..I read through reviews and called Kevin Martins office where he was quite aware he would still have to split the money I receive with another attorney and YET even though this isn't the biggest case ever him and his assistant have been extremely thorough, I can always get a hold of someone, they make me feel cared for when I have felt the world is ending, and most of all I never feel like I am "a pain" when I call or email frequently. PLEASE HIRE THIS LAWYER if you want and need to be taken care of!

I was referred to Tom by my sister who has worked with him before. I started having some health issues and figured it was time to get my affairs in order as I kept putting if off in the past. I thought Tom was great and seemed very knowledgeable. He was also very patient and understanding as I asked him alot of questions escpecially about whether to get a will or a trust. He ended up preparing a will and powers of attorney for me for a flat fee which I thought was reasonable. I'm glad my sister recommended Tom and I would also recommend him to others.

I knew we needed financial assistance and wasn’t sure how or if our situation would fit into filing a bankruptcy. Steven McDonald explained and guided us through a Chapter 7 knowing that that was what we needed and could accomplish. Even after we received discharge, Steven McDonald helped enforce my discharge to the creditors who started coming back for payment they were not entitled to. I felt like he had our backs when we filed and when we needed it. We have been able to move on and keep on going. Our life is now on track.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Oak Creek, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
