Mr. Martin accepted my case regarding fraud resulting in business losses. Others didn’t want this case. Attorney Martin was up front about concerns regarding winning. Still, he accepted the case based on merit, and he won the case with ease based on his knowledge.

I don't even know where to start as I want my review to be completely from the heart...when I was in a car accident from another driver hitting me it turned my world upside down. I quickly made the accident of hiring another attorney I had used for something else and found myself lost in answers..I read through reviews and called Kevin Martins office where he was quite aware he would still have to split the money I receive with another attorney and YET even though this isn't the biggest case ever him and his assistant have been extremely thorough, I can always get a hold of someone, they make me feel cared for when I have felt the world is ending, and most of all I never feel like I am "a pain" when I call or email frequently. PLEASE HIRE THIS LAWYER if you want and need to be taken care of!

Excellent lawyer. He was very professional, responsive, trustworthy, knowledgeable and kept me up-to-date with status. At one point, the outcome didn't look good for our case but he never gave up. As a result, we won. I am grateful for the service provided by Atty Martin and his staff. A friend referred me to Atty Martin and I will definitely do the same.

I was referred to Tom by my sister who has worked with him before. I started having some health issues and figured it was time to get my affairs in order as I kept putting if off in the past. I thought Tom was great and seemed very knowledgeable. He was also very patient and understanding as I asked him alot of questions escpecially about whether to get a will or a trust. He ended up preparing a will and powers of attorney for me for a flat fee which I thought was reasonable. I'm glad my sister recommended Tom and I would also recommend him to others.

I knew we needed financial assistance and wasn’t sure how or if our situation would fit into filing a bankruptcy. Steven McDonald explained and guided us through a Chapter 7 knowing that that was what we needed and could accomplish. Even after we received discharge, Steven McDonald helped enforce my discharge to the creditors who started coming back for payment they were not entitled to. I felt like he had our backs when we filed and when we needed it. We have been able to move on and keep on going. Our life is now on track.

I am very happy I hired Anthony. I was rear ended in 2022 and had whiplash from the accident. He checked in with me regularly and went to work to make sure I received compensation for my injuries.

My close friend recommended Mr Tony, after I got in a car accident back in 2021. He’s straightforward, and won’t cut any corners. He made everything clear as possible for me to understand the process. I was about to embark on, I was so stressed after the accident, I couldn’t function. I had to reach out to him, and his meet multiple times, to help calm me down and that they did. Mr Tony I could’ve asked you for anything more than you did for me and my girls. I’m more than grateful to you and your team for working with me through my meltdowns and frustration. You won’t regret your decision choosing Mr Tony as your Lawyer. Thanks again to you and your team. Best wishes to you and yours. Happy Holidays.

I originally went searching for a lawyer that would bring a voice to my wife's pain from her accident. A voice to my anger having to take off of work to talk to the manager of Enterprise because the insurance company pulled out of their agreement for our car rental. Or the piling medical bills we began to be faced with on top of our income. I found a video bio on Anthony Skemp whom among being a lawyer was a college coach on the side. His confidence and dedication is what suggested to me a man of morals and conviction. Our journey with Anthony took more than months and the only thing I can say is you get so much more than a lawyer with Tony. Hes truly educated but also passionate of the law. Many times myself and Tony clashed over principles and philosophies however each time Anthony took the time to break down how the law actually works something as someone outside the law would not understand like myself. Honestly the man is brilliant and the fact that hes actually accessible and not some corporate attorney in New York is truly a blessing for common citizens such as myself and my wife. Would I suggest Anthony Skemp? Without hesitation. However I will warn you that the fire he brings to defend you also resonates in his devotion to uphold and work within the fabric of his professional expertise. He carries a great respect and patriotism to being a lawyer which is why I think he's never going to be a lawyer that burns out on you or your case.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Oak Creek, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
