5 stars - Brett listened and never sugarcoat anything. He was up front about everything and explained everything to me to help me understand the next step and phases that were going to happen. My husband was charged for 2 counts of felony possession of firearms. In which he could face up to 20 years in prison. As a mother of 3 small children I was under so much stressed. Brett helped me figure things out and was so understanding. Brett was able to get the charges dismissed and got my husband released from jail within hours of the preliminary hearing. I am so grateful for Brett to be able to get my husband release and home with me and my 3 young childrens. I would highly recommend him. He did not judge us, willing to work with us and really down to earth and great guy to have on your side. Thanks Brett for what you were able to give back to me.

I could not be happier with the representation Attorney Kaehne provided. He is professional, understanding, informative, intelligent and was very attentive to our needs. Everyone I encountered in their law office was a pleasure to work with. He is easy to talk to and will quickly earn your trust. Attorney Kaehne has been the best (by far) attorney I have ever met. If you are in need of someone to fight for your rights, call Attorney Kaehne. ~Thank you for all you have done.

I just cant say enough about Brett and his firm. As a 69 year old medical marijuana user i was devastated when I was charged with three felonies for secretly having 6 female plants and a bunch of seedlings. Brett methodically chipped away charges and was finally able to negotiate down to simple possession. His knowledge of current drug laws is impressive. You could not choose a more competent lawyer. He saved my life.

Brett is superb. From taking our initial call late in the day (just by googling "attorney in Sheboygan") to meeting us that same early evening, his dedication to our case could not have been better. As soon as he was met, I felt the weight of the world leave my shoulders. I worked with him from long distance and he (or his staff) always kept me in the loop. Details to the case were never too small to get overlooked and he genuinely cared about the case. I still can't believe we found this awesome attorney simply by googling him! I hated being in this predicament, but Brett took this role on without hesitation and always let us know where we stood on X day. I thought for sure he would be too busy to talk to me when I just wanted to know the status; thinking he would have someone from his staff reach out. Not at all, it was Brett who would write the email or call. This is the guy you want on your team. His expertise -- clearly coupled with his extensive network within the judicial system there in Wisconsin -- is exactly the person you need during rather difficult times when faced with something of this magnitude. To say my family is grateful for the peace of mind and the esteem we now have back, is an understatement.

Stephanie Rock was hands down the best attorney that I've ever had the privilege to hire. From first contact until we won our case, she was fully committed. I never had a doubt that I was in good hands. Ms. Rock went way above and beyond to ensure that my needs were taken care of. She drove a long ways several time to come meet me when I was unable to drive. She made regular calls to me to make sure that we were on the same page and that I was comfortable with what was going on, and took the time to explain things in a kind manner when I was naturally very nervous about everything. I legitimately can't even think of how she, or anyone else, could have done a better job. Then, when it came time for the court appearances, she fought for me. Stephanie made sure that our points were heard and excellently countered everything that the D.A. tried to do against me. If you are serious about your rights and your freedom, you will hire Stephanie M Rock. I am very glad that I did.

Stephanie did an amazing job representing me throughout my whole case, she always kept me in the loop of what is going and and whatever evidence that was sent to her she sent to me. She was always up front and honest of how things were going or looking and when it came time to challenge the accusing party she stepped up, being very knowledgeable and straight forward. I walked out with my charges dropped!

First, I need to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to Casey and his team for all their hard work on my case. I genuinely believe he’s passionate about all his clients going above and beyond. My case was no different. He was incredible in helping me defend against unbelievable false accusations. The first time I came to his office I was still in shock as to the series of events that led up to the claims and with legitimate fears for my freedom. He took the time to listen to me and with compassion gave me a level of reassurance I needed. I believe with the utmost sincerity that his dedication, hard work, and thoroughness to cover all the bases and explore every possible resource has played an integral part in the outcome of this case. My innocence needed to be brought to light, and you did just that. Masterfully and with professionalism, integrity, intensity, and grace. Thank you for all you've done for my family and I. A++ could not recommend a better criminal defense lawyer in Sheboygan and surrounding areas.

From the very first meeting, Casey was very diligent in learning about my case and finding a solution. Over a 9 month period, he was great about communicating next steps and helping me through the process. Ultimately, my case was entirely dismissed, which is not common for an OWI case. I would highly recommend Casey!

Greg was extremely knowledgeable in bankruptcy law. Anytime I had a question he called me back the same day, even if it was a question he probably got a100 times. He is honest, polite, and friendly. Yes, I did use the word honest something you normally don't hear in the same sentence with attorney/lawyer. :)

As first time going through bankruptcy we were not sure what to expect from the process much less who to trust. Greg explained each step and all fees involved before we even hired him. During the process he was always quick answer our calls and kept us informed all along the way. Never made us feel bad just always there to answer our questions. He even sent us all the necessary info needed for what to do after the bankruptcy was finished. From the beginning he was ethical trustworthy and very competent. I would recommend him to anyone needing legal help!

I had my finances and stuff in a mess from being in an accident. greg helped dicuss with me what the best options would be for me filing bankruptcy and helped explain every step of the way. He worked hard with me to get all of my things sorted out and done right. Did a good job of getting the paperwork filed on time. Since dealing with him with the bankruptcy. If I have any questions or small requests for paperwork. He is always happy to help me with what is needed. Very great job.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
