Attorney Morgan represented me in a criminal case where the cards are stacked against me. He never failed to return an email text message or phone call regardless of the time day or night. In the quart room the only thing you cared about was me, his client. He's not there for any other reason strictly business. Very professional and caring. If you need a defense attorney you will feel protected from the first phone call. I highly recommend Attorney Morgan and if I ever need an attorney again I will not hesitate to call him.

Mr. Morgan is a hard-working and dedicated attorney who went the extra mile for our entire family. He always made sure everyone was well informed on both in- and out-of-court proceedings, and always took the time to explain complicated matters. He spent a lot of time asking questions, gathering information, and examining evidence to build a strong defense, which ultimately led to an excellent offer from the District Attorney’s office. We highly recommend Mr. Morgan to anyone in need of an excellent defense attorney.

Mr. Morgan was always very professional, always very helpful and always explained what was happening with the case clearly. He kept us up-dated (in a timely manner) what was happening with the case when it came to changes in court appearances and any kind of out-of-court settlements. It was a great advantage that Mr. Morgan was assigned to our case through the Public Defenders Office. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Morgan as an attorney for any case.

I contacted Mr. Prusinski after being accused of a very serious crime. He walked me through an otherwise unfamiliar legal process that took nearly 3 years, ending in a trial where I was acquitted. One (of many) things I can appreciate about his guidance is his honesty. He didn’t sugarcoat anything. He also was extremely well at making sure I made the decisions in the case. His assistant Brittany also was very good at promptly updating me on important dates and even went as far as to help me shop for proper attire for the courtroom (which I had none of). It was very clear that he is well respected by all in a courtroom setting.

I was very pleased with the outcome of my case. After almost 3 and a half years of figuring out what I wanted to do I finally decided after much discussion and after exhausting every possibility. All options were explained to me by Mr. Prusinski to my satisfaction and easily understandable. I was always kept informed by Britney or Mr. Prusinski himself. It was a bright experience for a bad mistake and poor decision.

Besides being extremely knowledgeable, Sarah was very professional, unassuming and understanding. Conversations with Sarah always ended with a calming effect, a sense of direction and the perception that the situation was under control. Overall, I was very pleased with the point blank, non-emotional, fact driven and timely responses that I received from Sarah. She made what we thought was a mess into a very understandable, beneficial and controlled transaction.

I had the pleasure to work with Peter over a three year period on my personal injury case. I can honestly say that Peter made what could have been an unpleasant experience pleasurable. The whole time I worked with Peter I always felt that I was being represented at the highest level and he always communicated with me what was going on and where we were at all times. I was very satisfied with the outcome of my case and would highly recommend Peter no matter how large of small the case. Peter is clearly a rising star in the Habush firm.

I was in my first car accident just over a year ago where i was struck by another driver and did have some injuries because of it. I was unsure of the process and was overwhelmed with all the phone calls from the clinic and the insurance company and not even sure what my rights were. I hired Pete to help me out with this traumatic event. From the moment he started i did not receive any more phone calls and he kept me well informed of what the discussions were he was having on my behalf. A car accident is not a fun thing to deal with and Pete was very understanding and patiently answered all my questions about the case and what my rights are in this situation. He did everything in his power to make sure i received the treatment i needed as well as the financial amount i was owed. I would definitely highly recommend Pete Young to anyone who is seeking a lawyer!!

Peter M. Young helped me to receive compensation when I was hurt because of a trip and fall on a poorly maintained parking lot. I was very satisfied with his responsiveness to my needs, and also with his staff’s attention to my case. I would recommend Peter M. Young to anyone that needs someone to aggressively represent them due to injury.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Wausau, Wisconsin?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
